Can 2 BMW users add their cars to each other's apps?
I've got a 2019 X3, with a Connected Drive account of my own, and a BMW ID of my own and I have my car in the BMW app on my phone.
My partner has a 2023 118i, with a Connected Drive account of her own, and a BMW ID of her own and has her car in the BMW app on her phone. What we'd like to do is add each other's cars to each other's BMW apps. Giving us the ability to at least open the car and get in it when it's raining/cold/snowing rather than wait for the other to arrive. Use case: Today we were both out in my car and parked it and both went to different places and planned to meet back at my car at a certain time. I was delayed and she was already at my car and waiting, in the cold and rain. She whatsapped me to say she was there. Using the app, I opened the doors and she could get in and wait for me to get back. Ideally she would have been able to go into her app and choose 'my car' (not her car) and open the doors. Even better would be if she could start the car and she could have come and picked me up, rather than waiting for me to get back there. After much googling, I can't work out if this can be done. Get this wrong and I could end up screwing up both of our currently-working app configurations - with me having access to hers and she having access to mine but neither of us having access to our own cars.

Yes - I have my M8 and my wife’s X5 both on my app under my account. My wife only has her X5 under her own account.
In the upper right of the app select the icon that looks like a car In the upper right again select edit Add Vehicle Edit: Above is for the U.S. version of the app; not sure if its different internationally. |
