Broken radiator neck

I am so annoyed. The straw hose to my coolant tank broke off the upper radiator hose, so I was replacing it both hoses. The connection to the radiator neck was really stuck. I tried a heat gun. I used a dremel to cut out a piece to relieve some of the friction. I wiggled very carefully, and after 20 minutes, it was coming out and then the radiator neck snapped. Car is a 2007 328i with 165,000 miles, so I the radiator was probably on borrowed time anyway, right? I am really bummed out.

100% sucks, and 100% typical. You did beat the odds pulling it out to 165k... can definitely go before that. The good news is that E90 radiators are really easy to swap out. The not so good news is that you should do new hoses while you have everything apart. Sorry

Yeah I feel your pain. Mine radiator top corner section busted like 3 months ago on my E90. I had a friend swap it for me. Had to replace a few hoses too.
