your worst speeding ticket?
after seeing the post about the 1st ticket in a 135 I figured we should see who has the worst speeing ticket? and what resulted from it? I'll start!
In 02 I was leaving for work early in the morning after leaving incriminating party evidence in my parents house. it was still dark and had just stopped raining so the road was soaked. I did a quick u turn so I could fix my mistake and still try to get to work on time. sure enough on my way back towards my house a cop had set up shop somewhere. I never even saw him and had already gone into my house before hearing him roar up my driveway, siren blairing. he clocked me at 127 in a 45 and tacked on a few other charges beyond the "wreckless driving." in court he even tried to convice the judge I was suicidal. after all said and done I walked away with a charge for 80 in a 45 (still wreckless driving) and 6 month license suspension.

I was driving my first car. '66 Impala with a 327 and 300 hp heads. I pulled up to a stop light and some kid pulled up next to me in a Mustang. I say kid, I guess I should say he was 16 and just had his license for a couple of weeks but I was only 17 and had my license for about a year. Anyway, the light turns green and I pull away slowly not really paying attention and then he comes up next to me and floors it a couple of times to let me know he wanted to race. Being a stupid 17 year old I couldn't resist, so down goes the right foot, the carter 4 barrel opens up, my powerglide transmission (2 speed auto for those that have never heard of one) downshifts to 1st and away I go. Got to 120 before the next stop light and the Mustang was thouroughly beaten. As we sat there side by side discussing the ass whoopin' the lights of the police car came on behind us. Little did we know, but the police car had been behind us since the previous light. A few weeks later, after my court appearance all I had to do was go to a driving school and the other guy had his license suspended for 6 months.

insurance is why I had to end up selling my e34...liability was near 300/month and full coverage (if I wanted it) shot up to almost 800/month.

105 (written down to 95) in a 65 mph zone. ( 4am going to airport on Sunday)
Went to court and judge (in private chambers) gave me a $145 obstructing traffic ticket (non moving violation). On the way out I found 2 quarters in the parking lot so it was $144.50 which was cheaper that a new ticket to San Francisco. It was good to be the king that day. ... |

85 in a 50 mph speed trap on I-94 between Chicago and MI. Got dropped to 80 because I was the 6th person in a line of 8 that 1 officer pulled over and he didn't have us all tagged. Nate

120mph overtaking an unmarked impreza, soon as i passed him i knew i was in for it! He followed me for a mile and averaged my speed out at 101.2mph. £350 fine and 6 points (12 points within 3 years and you get a ban), was lucky to escape with that as you would usually get a straight ban for doing over 100mph.

140KPH in a 80KPH area.. unmarked Ford Falcon V8.. he was ALLL over me for it.. not one of my better moments in life...
funny story.. The cop tried to pin a bunch of tickets to me like travling to close to the car infront etc etc.. (it was LATE at night and we were the only two on the road ) I left with out taking the ticket and rather upset... I got a letter a month later saying the matter had been droped and i would not hear anything further about it.. I can only assume the cop upset alot of people that day and they just dropped all the fines for that day?:iono: it was like $800 worth of tickets.. happy days.. twas New Zealand (Auckland) Cop happy city.. |

My worst ticket was 100 in a 70mph. They always catch me by aircraft. Never by land.

Just missed this ticket, clearly the officer was feeling magnanimous.
1984, 8:00AM Sunday morning, not a soul on the freeway, head on a swivel, cruising along @100+ mph, out of apparent thin-air, a City of Ontario, CA motorcycle cop materializes alongside my 2002, motioning me to drop the speed. I give him the ole' thumbs up and go on my merry way. Whew...dodged that bullet thanks to an understanding officer.

My worst was a stop that involved two tickets and three warnings. The tickets were for 60 in a 40 and an unsafe lane change. Warnings were for following too closely, not signalling during a lane change and I have since forgotten the last one. I was preparing to change lanes when the guy next to me started to speed up to block me... I guess I didn't appreciate his move.
I've had worse tickets in terms of speed, but never so many in one go. Only ended up costing $125 and didn't go on my record, thankfully. |

I was going to the street races with a buddy and it was late, liek 12 midnight and I saw an SUv going pretty fast so we hooked up and were both going like 90-100, then all of a sudden im getting high beamed.
It was an unmarked car that had been following us on th Garden State Parkway for about 3-4 miles. Gave me a ticket for 35 over and reckless driving =( Best non ticket was in the same car I hit this hill and wanted to see how fast i could go... 45mph zone I hit about 95.. i see the cop but by then its too late. He pulls next to me and motions me to roll down my window, says slow the fuck down and tells me to be on my way =) |

I don't normally exceed the speed limit my very much (usually 10 to 15 mph), problem is I do it all the time.
As a result I have in the past lost my licence, and currently am on the way to doing it again if the local police (Tasmanian) inform my native state (NSW) of my infringements..... :-(

Here in Oregon, a ticket for 100 mph carries a mandatory minimum 30 90 day suspension in addition to a $1,103.00 fine. Cronic offendors will have their vehicles impounded.

Worst ticket was for 99 in a 65 in Virginia. That state treats speeders like serial killers! If I was alone in my car that day he might have towed my, he did threaten that he could. It was my first ticket ever and not in my home state, which thank god has no reciprocity for points transfer.
$500 ticket not counting lawyer fees, suspended license for 30 days(in Virginia oh well only went down there once since), and I believe thats all. Lawyer was definitely worth it because I didn't have to go to jail! |

75 in a marked 35 (road was 60 MPH) - going through a great banked corner on a state road in Kentucky in my Miata. The trooper that pulled me over was nice and yapped about the car for a bit - and then told me that curve is the local "dead man's curve".
$169 fine, on my freaking birthday no less!! ; -) |

I dont know if this is true or not, but a friend always has a friend that has a friend who is a cop .
Supposively if you pay your ticket for more than the fine, they can not close out the ticket until you recieve the refund and cash it. Resulting in the ticket not hitting your driving record. For example. If you get a ticket for $100. Pay them $100.02, they will send you a check back for 2 cents. If you keep throwing it away, they will keep trying to settle it with you and it can not close out....dont know what states this applies to or how long it will last. just a rumor....:iono: Has anyone heard of this?

I was right. They kept my dollar, and put the ticket straight onto my driving record. How do I know? Because when I went to court on my NEXT ticket and went for a plea bargan, they showed me that I was only eligible for a 1-point reduction because of the prior ticket that was less than 6 months earlier. At least where I live that won't work. It could be that somewhere, at some time, some computer might have had that problem. Be assured that some programmer has fixed that bug by now, if it were ever true. Last edited by Nixon; 08-10-2009 at 04:51 PM.. |
