2DCE & 2EOF - Car Clicks Once upon ignition on
Hi everyone,
I have a stock 2011 335i with the N55 with 88k miles. Car was running perfectly (even in recent very low temps) until I started it up running errands and got a CEL with the above (2DCE & 2EOF) codes. I had to drive 15 miles home - car drove totally fine, idled perfectly. Didn’t rev above 3k. Haven’t driven it since and get no noise upon unlocking, like some people have. With that said, when I turn the ignition on, I get a singular “click” from under hood, and get the same click when I turn the ignition off. Going to the mechanic in the coming days, but has anyone experienced the singular click? Lots of reports of chattering, 2-3 seconds worth of clicking, etc. Hoping my endurance warranty (ugh) covers this. Thinking it’s the valvetronic motor or the eccentric shaft? If anyone has experienced please comment below. Thanks all! |

For anyone else experiencing this - it was the valvetronic motor that gave out. My shop replaced that (eccentric shaft actuator was the technical term) and did the Valve Cover Gasket (as they overlap) for $1400. Hope this helps those of you in the future!

Thanks for the feedback. I have heard that Valvetronic can be an issue.
