Ordered my 24 G87 - Keep my F87 or sell it?
Just ordered & placed a deposit on my new M2! I am still not sold on the looks, the front & rear just give me a serious case of the uglies. LOL Makes me want to keep my (paid for) F87. Keep or sell??
I drove my buddy's G87 & no doubt, this is one helluva car. Interior is just awesome, very nice indeed. Love the side view. And love that there is no drone with the exhaust. Lemme tell ya - that is one thing I will not miss with my F87. I def miss some of the BMW classic stuff like the dual angel eye headlights & M2 side-gill/badge. Anyway - the new build specs:
Worst part - 4 to 5 month ETA! At least I still have the F87 to keep my satisfied until it arrives. Just wondering if selling the F87 just for the extra cash to lower the payment might be a bad mistake. I wanna keep it, but I really don't need 2 cars - I just know I'll miss that thing once it's gone.

I wish I kept my E92 M3. Will probably get another 1. Maybe a E90 this time. Keep it.

I say, sell the F87 while you can (prices on them are dropping very quickly) and invest that money into a CD or something. Or if you have the garage space, turn that F87 into a track weapon and have fun with it.

If you're really not sure and you are able to keep it, wait for the new one to arrive and drive it for a while and see which one you prefer, then sell the other. Sure you won't maximize your tax advantage and might lose a little in depreciation, but you will be sure in your decision.

Congrats! No advice on the F87, but you should save $200 and remove the wireless charger from your build. The one that comes with the 6MT is inside the center console, takes up storage space, is ineffective at charging and great at heating.
Source - everyone on this forum that saved me $200. |

I've had the car 4 years now & it's been great - have had fun on the track with it. Was thinking keep it as my daily/bad weather (perish the thought! LOL) & my track car.

I've never ordered a vehicle I thought was ugly, so can't help you there. Definitely, remove the wireless charging. Yeah it's only $200, but it's worthless.
If you can swing keeping both and have space to park/store them, might as well. You can always sell one later on. |

I thought the new M2 was nice when I saw pics of it, but in person it is so much nicer. I admire its lines every day.

I didn't really have much to offer when I started reading this thread and other people's thoughts...actually agreed with points on both sides. But that was before we knew about the tax on cars in your state on top of the insurance, etc. I would lean towards selling. |

You already made your choice! If you wanted to keep the F87 M2 and loved it—you wouldn’t have ordered a G87. Clearly you’re not that attached to it. Sell it.

Actually, I am attached to it & love it. Fully modded, killer ride, paid for, incredible condition & runs great. That's my struggle... and def a first world problem. I have a JCW Mini Cooper I am gonna trade. I've had 2 cars quite a while. I planned on keeping the F87 as my rainy roads, winter time & track car. I'd really only be trading it to lower my car payment, and save on taxes & insurance.

I've had this struggle in the past, but with guitars.
What ends up happening is I eventually pick a favorite and the other one sits around collecting dust, which I really dislike. F87s are still holding their value well. You might be kicking yourself later for not taking advantage of that. |

If you can do without the F87 I think you should sell the F87 now. Used car prices are dropping. It is worth as much money used now as it ever will be.
Then you can use what you sell the F87 car for -- plus what you save dropping insurance for the F87 -- to lower how much you finance to buy the M2 which can only save you money given the interest rate I believe the new car loan will run you. |
