Argh. Delivery services.

I was supposed to get a package today but:

Quote:
Estimated Time of Arrival
March, 15 2024 - By End of Day

Further Detail

Due to adverse weather conditions, the shipment could not be processed.

Next Step

The shipment will be reallocated to the next movement or courier for delivery once the weather conditions improve. Please continue to monitor the progress online.
DHL coming from Chicago. It's a beautiful, sunny day here in IL. Something tells me "adverse weather" can mean anything. The package left their facility shortly after 8AM and returned there shortly after noon. Maybe a mechanical issue with the truck?

Not a huge deal, but I was looking forward to playing with this device this weekend.

My wife placed an order with Levi's almost 10 days ago, it has yet to be picked up from the warehouse by the carrier. Who knows what that deal is, we've never even heard of the delivery company.

“Adverse weather” sounds like “weather delay” which is the reason airline use when they don’t want to compensate flyers.

It is very common now. Weather issues, delayed flights, etc. even for overnight services. Tracking information isn't even that accurate anymore. UPS and FedEx are about as reliable as USPS. The days of "When it Absolutely, Positively has to be there overnight" are over, even as shipping costs increase.

Don't think I ever got a delivery from DHL. Amazon, UPS, USPS, Fedex, and Local independents (Best Buy, Home Depot seem to use those).

This originated in Ontario, so DHL Express was an option for the shipper. I usually only see DHL as an intermediate service that delivers to the post office.

I had a Nordic Track ski machine delivered by DHL around 30 years ago. It was curbside delivery. I hated that machine. lol

We still have one. Part of it is in my home office and part is in the study. It's Wifey's machine, but she doesn't use it any more and hasn't for years. I'd like to toss the thing in the trash.

Haha, funny. That's what we did for a while, then I got off my lazy ass and got rid of it.

That reminds me of this little joke:

Q: What do you call a $2k coat rack?

A: A Bowflex

F the USPS. I sent a pkg priority mail & they lost it/stole it. I file a claim & they magically find it & still take another week to deliver. Took over 3 weeks for delivery. Unreal

My delayed package surprisingly got delivered today. On a Sunday. All the way from Chicago, which is more than 3 hours away. I thought sure it'd be Tuesday or later before they got it here.

Drives me mad. DHL, UPS, FedEx...it doesn't matter. We work in a critical industry and frequently utilize dedicated trucks, too. "Next Day Early AM" generally delivers around lunch now when it used to be by 8am - if it even shows up the next day at all. A dedicated truck that used to take a max of six hours can now take up to twenty-four.

Currently, UPS and USPS are my best performers. However, Fedex Service to my rural area sucks!.....their driver's attitudes and actions are even worse!!

the big name carriers are usually just final leg people now.

When fedex invented smartpost way back it was brutal. they would do first leg then drop to USPS.

Now since the mergence of amazon we have even a worse monster. third party logistic companies that pick up and move the package almost until your final destiniation. this legally and reputationally absolves the big name carrier of delays as the scapegoat is a third party
