Does 'active cruise control' adjust speed to account for car in the front

I am looking to place an order for 230i and have a few questions. Hopefully, my fellow group members here can help. My current car has 'adaptive cruise control'. When set to a cruise limit and the vehicle in front is slower than that value, my car will automatically slow down as well. This is a must-have feature for me.

When looking at options in 230i site, I see the following
Is this option the same as adaptive cruise control ? ie. the speed will be adjusted if the car in front is slower.

Even though the option say 'active cruise control', the image does not show the knobs for adjusting the distance with the front car.

Yes it does. The distance is adjusted in the idrive menus.

On a diff vehicle (m240i) that was sitting at the dealership, it looked like this. There were 2 buttons to adjust the speed.

Yeah, the picture in the description on BMW's website is incorrect (not the first time I've seen this). My 2023 Z4 also has the buttons on the steering wheel as shown in the picture of the M240i. But yes, Active Cruise Control is the same as Adaptive Cruise Control in other makes.

Random 230i I found on AutoTrader that has it. You can clearly see the buttons on the steering wheel to adjust the distance:

I love the adaptive cruise control, it freaked me out the first few times I used it but for the most part it is brilliant. It will slow down and stop the truck in heavy traffic and it takes a lot of the stress out of long highway drives.

Agreed. Once you learn to trust it, it works great. Had the same concern with the parking assistant as well
