Leaking water pump? Hairline crack?
https://youtube.com/shorts/vhNWur1MY...UNLk4cxaRmwYLa
Here is a YouTube short of a video of my coolant leak from the water pump area. It’s leaking it looks like right from where the electrical plug connector plugs in AND where the plastic and aluminum meet on the body? Hairline crack? Not tight anymore got loose over time and heat cycles and leaking now? 75k miles on this pump and t stat. Need some advice. Probaly have to replace with a new one? May as well order a T stat as well? I was hoping it was a hose, like the u hose but it doesn’t look like it is. It gets worse when the vehicle is warm. Small or no seepage until it gets warm. sTP aftermarket for $212.00 or piersburg 313.00 I would like to get the cheaper one really expecially if it’ll last like 40-50k miles but we’ll see. Btw: oil pan job went well, no leaks and have driven it like 50 miles so far. I knew I had the coolant leak before but was hoping it was just the U hose but looks like I’ll be ordering a water pump. Prob should order a new tstat as well and do same time? Thanks everyone

Rock auto has a 24 month warranty on all parts so doesn’t really matter if I go with the cheaper one, if I get 24 months out of it I won’t complain. $215.00 + tstat.
Just want opinions on what y’all think where the leak is. Pump itself? |

Looks like a lot of leaking for a hairline crack, I would confirm no other hoses or connections higher up are bad other than what you already replaced.
All coolant lines go bad around 100k miles, any of them not replaced are suspect. Waterpump is fairly expensive and difficult, I would rule out other cheaper and easier hoses or connections. Expansion tank is possible. |

Yeah.. it was a real pain in the ass but the pump and the tstat are out right now. Should have new pump and tstat/hose by wensday and will update. Just for curiosity is there anyway to test these electrical water pumps outside the car to see if they hold water? Kinda curious to know if it was pump that was leaking which I’m sure it was. |
