Car detailed
I had my car detailed this weekend, by a guy who claims to be proffessional. The car is might shiney.
He basically washed the car, clayed it all down, polished out the scracthes with an orbital and then waxed the car. :-) Here are some photo's of the results What do you think? I hope this job lasts the winter here (mid-september) as I don't like getting my hands wet in the cold (it's winter here in the South of the world) |

Looks great! My favourite color, especially when it looks like that. Depending on what he used as the final topping, it should last with frequent washings.
I'd be nervous about whatever's on the other side of that fence in the background though!!! (j/k) |

Security like that is also is a strong selling feature on SA property. You think Michael Scolfield has a tough time trying to break out of prison (in Prison Break), here in SA, we can relate to him as we all have that tough time getting out of our homes.

Broken1, Nice job blanking out your Licence plate, but you forgot about your licence disk. Zooming in works wonders.... Just kidding....
What's that other sticker? Is it BMW club?

With all due respect to our SA firends, if your fence looked like that, you would have the same security issues that they have and you don't really want that. |

Lcharles: The other sticker is the BMW car club :-) And good luck zooming in on my licence disk :-) hahah.
Firstly, that wasn't my house. It was the person's house who was detailing my car. Secondly, almost all properties in SA have walls/fencing like that. The reason is, a couple of years ago things used to be REALLY bad. So everyone went paranoid and put up giant electric fences. Things here aren't peaches and cream - but it's not like I crap myself everytime I leave my house. You are just carefull like you would be anywhere else in the world - you lock your doors at night - don't drive through dodgy neighbourhoods in the dark and just keep generally aware. Bad things to happen, but we don't live our lives in fear. Almost all houses have electric fences, because it definately makes you FEEL very safe. |

Clay isn't for scratches - it's for removing bonded contaminants (visible and not visible) from the clear coat to keep it smooth, and to keep them from accumulating and causing issues later on. It's a good idea once a year.
The car looks great; as mentioned depending on the sealant/wax he used it should last 6+ months. |

I plan to clay my car every 6-9 months - depending on the condition of the paint. |

Trust me, I'd believe the difference it made. ![]() I am a big proponent of clay and feel it is an integral part of car care. I was just pointing out that clay does not remove scratches. |
