E92 LCI - failure of rear light in trunk lid, left: 63217252779

I am having an issue with my E92 LCI where the LED elements of the left light in the boot lid has failed, although the rear fog light that side still works as normal.

Confusingly, the LED elements occasionally light up when unlocking the car, but soon then extinguish. I have taken the boot panel off to see whether there was cable damage but couldn't see any.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I will likely buy another used light to test.

I imagine those things can fail, have you checked the elephant hose at the body connection for broken wires? If so, I would look for a used set of inner lights.

Thanks. I need to do two things that I didn't have the chance to on the weekend. One is to try to check the cabling under the rubber hose. The other is to try swapping the lights from either side of the boot around. If the right light works when connected to the cable on the left side that should indicate that it is a problem with light instead of the cable. Conversely if the right light doesn't work when connected to the cable on the left side that should indicate it is a cable problem.

It is frustrating that I didn't think to try this when I had taken the trim out. Those little clips are a massive pain!
