Sorry, another battery question...
Replaced:
BMW battery AGM 92AH 850CCA with Interstate AGM 95AH 900CCA. Bought an ANCEL BM 700 to code and register the new battery. Turns out the new model of the BM 700 will register, but not code the battery. Back to the drawing board: Getting a multitude of mixed messages: Some are saying that the small difference in AH rating doesn't require coding as long as battery type (AGM / AGM) is the same. Others are saying that ANY change in rating OR type requires coding. Which is correct? Thanks! |

You won't be able to code that specific AH rating anyway for AGM so just register the new battery and call it a day. I have also had a 95AH AGM in my car for years without any issues. Its coded to 90AH AGM currently and has been since new.
Off the top of my head the battery coding for AGMs only give us like 70ah, 80ah, 90ah, and 105ah or something like that. I think the best practice is to select the closest rating without going over. For example a 92ah would be coded as a 90ah. A 100AH would also be coded as 90AH if that makes sense. Long story short, you are fine just where you are now, just register. |
