Overheating safety valve?

Hi all,
Been super hot here in Toronto, I was driving my car back from the stealership and when i got home the temp shot up and I heard a boom and coolant went everywhere. Got the car up on stands checked underneath and I can't seem to find where all the coolant leaked out from. Checked my water pump with INPA and ISTA and all I found was that the electric fan wasn't working. Is there a safety valve or something that will blow to relieve pressure or something, thermostat hoses seem intact nothing open etc. Any input would be appreciated before I start taking it apart. I drove it all the way home and soon as I parked it in the garage the orange temp like came on and turned it off, then boom coolant everywhere. I've had water pump failures before and coolant has never emptied like that.

Thanks,

Drew

UPDaTE: Poured some distilled water into the reservoir and the wanted drained out from under it. Guessing a hose blew off or is the reservoir tank done?

UPDATE 2: Expansion tank exploded, any ideas what could have caused this, literally blew the tank to kingdom come. Only codes I could pull like I mentioned earlier was electric fan, couldn't get it to turn on with INPA either in accessory mode.

Your electric fan is the problem, it's not cooling the engine. The pressure built up and the weakest link was the aged coolant tank. You need a new tank and figure out why the fan is not working. Check the connector and harness for broken wires.

Did the dealership work on the car?

Last time I heard a boom was a few years ago in -20C weather while parked.

Tank exploded right down the middle, turbo side.

I was able to source a new one the same day and replace it in the parking lot.

Yeah, they were sourcing a no start that I couldn't find and the SOS fibre loop issue. I figured it was the fan, It was working fine before I took it in, going to check it now, every time i take it to BMW it comes back with another issue, just my luck I guess.

Yes they did, did not mention any issues with fan. I also can't loop my fibre network anymore to get my sound back idk if they disabled something. They said amp no good.
