Transmission Help!

Hello,

Can somebody help me identify the transmission problem?

So this is the new car I bought: e92 2007 n54 6hp21.

This weekend I've replaced transmission valve body seals, solenoids, oil pan and oil. All replaced parts are ZF parts including ZF oil.

6.5 liters went back in to the transmission when refilling (from an eye its the same amount that drained-including the spills. Nasty job 😃

Transmission adaptations were reseted in INPA.

But the issue is still present.

The issue: when stationary i can select drive and sport also changing gears via handle works. But at one moment it's like transmission has mind of its own and start randomly selecting gears from m1-m6 while still in Drive. If I select sport mode the requests to up or downshift doesn't respond.

Also when driving its jumping from Drive to Manual while gearbox handle is still in drive.

Something feels off because I can feel shifting gears while cluster is displaying m6 gear in Drive, also I dont believe I can drive off from full stop while in 6th gear?

The codes I get in inpa for transmission is this

5087 Hardware Eingänge Tippfunktion

When driving it shifts nicely but from time to time quite frequently it automatically goes from drive to sport/manual while still physically being in drive. When this misbehaving happens manual/sport doesnt respond to manualy switching gears.

I've disconnected the shifter paddels on steering wheel just to rule them out.
I've also looked at the wires in the gear selector and they all are still in one piece.

Next thing I'm thinking of doing is change the whole gear selector for different one

Have anybody had similar problem?

I wonder if you are having issues with the gear selector wires peeling like others have had. Take out the gear selector and see if there are any damaged wires in there.

Yes, this could be possible. I had the same issue on my E90 back 2012. A couple of wires were cut due to the manual shifting. Had to open center console ans sodered the wires. No problem ever since. I try not over use sport mode lol. Anyways but if you were having tranny fault codes could be a transmission issue. I paid a shop to rebuild my tranny on my E88 last year. 4th and 5th gear were slipping due to a bad clutch disc.

Check your shifter wires under the center console. A few of mine were splitting and I had similar weird behavior.

I've disconnected the connector under the steering wheel to rule out the clockring to shifting pedal malfunction/short. Also disconnected most of the cables from gear selector.
It still goes to manual gear 2 when i put it in Drive. Sometimes stays in Drive but eventually it will go to manual. Also it wouldnt shift unless i put it to N and back to Drive then it would select higher gear. But still it doesnt know in wich gear it should be. Going from m2 m1 m3 m4 m5 m6

Yah I am afraid resetting the adaptatios with all this new fluid and solenoids caused the transmission to react this way. Same thing happened to my e88. I replaced the usual stuff first such as fluid and solenoids and made it worse. At that point I towed to a transmission shop. Told me that the disc clutches were burned and had to rebuild my transmission. I think its time to do the same for yours.

Yeah wierd thing is there is no difference in before or after I did seals, solenoids, oil and adaptation reset. Like I haven't done anything to it. It's just that one code 5087 popping up that tells me noting.I can clear it but after some time it comes back.
I guess its time to visit a transmission mechanic and open up the transmission.
I just hope it's not a stupid electrical problem causing wierd shifting.
Also I don't believe its related to gearshifter by sending requests to change gear anymore. Because I've disconnected wires that make sport mode possible.

I think its the best thing to do. They should be able to scan for tranny fault codes and recomend the next steps.
