N57 to 8HP

Hi,

Trying to find information regarding 8HP gearbox fitting into N57 E9x chassis. Has anyone seen any topics or videos of someone doing it? I assume it is completely different procedure than M57 to 8HP.

Thanks!

no big difference
there is choice of adapters (can bus converters) to adapt 8hp to e9x (one lithuanian and one polish)

Understood. The question now is if 8hp70 fits in e91 chassis and if the bolt pattern is the same, propshaft etc. which makes it main headache. I think I saw somewhere regarding this, and guys used OEM X5 E70 parts to avoid using aftermarket TCU to make a car communicate with 8hp as the base is the same N57 but can no longer find it.

Never heard of Lithuanian aftermarket TCU? Mind of sharing? I know about Lamik and CanTCU

I’ve been thinking of doing this to my 335d m57

Emailed house of torque regarding some of their products

This the reply

Thank you for the email.
From us, we can provide the following:
https://house-of-torque.com/product/can-tcu/
https://house-of-torque.com/product/8hp-filter-and-oil-pan/
https://house-of-torque.com/product/m57n-and-m57n2-to-n57-8hp-adapter/
https://house-of-torque.com/product/starter-cover-for-8hp/

Since it is being installed in a 3 series, I would recommend the PNP harness from Canformance:

If you have any other questions please do get in touch.

Best regards,

Will
