Cool Radiator ease

Hey guys, I am looking to change the radiator on my 2010 328i and the instructions look pretty straightforward. I was going to put the car on driveway ramps to undo the bottom pieces.

I'm trying to figure out if this is straightforward enough that if I commit I will get it done, or will I end up with some stupid problem that will get me stuck and eat my time.

What's the general thought?

General thoughts are the two radiator hoses will be a complete pain in the ass to remove. You may break off the small hose nipple for the hose that routes back to the coolant reservoir. The nipple is on the upper radiator hose..

How is removing the fan and removing the radiator themselves?

I don’t think you have to remove any hoses to remove the fan but double check. Check for Youtube videos with your specific year amd model.

Most helpful video from my experience. Buy a replacement upper radiator hose in the very likely event it breaks during removal

The fan is the easiest part. Disconnect the fan connector. Remove one screw on the upper right. Pull up the fan and release the clips one each half way down each side of the radiator. No need to remove the hoses.

Here, I published a DIY on the cooling system. This explains all the hoses and radiator for a manual transmission car. Not sure what you have.

Any big difference with doing it on an auto?

Removing the fan is the same on either.

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Thanks guys for the guidance. I got around to doing this yesterday and it wasn't too bad at all. The hardest part is trying to get some of the screws loose if they are rusted. Otherwise it was straightforward watching the videos. Can be done within 2 hours.
