Base speakers VS M3/Logic 7 wiring
I am about to start my interior swap in my late model E92 335i with idrive, I currently have the base stereo (well I think I do anyway, It has only 1 speaker in the front and rear door cards but I also have tweeters in the front doors?)
I will be swapping in late model M3 interior that I have been sitting on for years. The interior includes M3 speakers that are already in M3 door cards, I won’t be modifying my 335 door cards to accommodate the M3 speakers. -Do the base speakers use different wiring plug connections than the M3 speakers? Going from 1 speaker in the rear to 2, will I need to “add” wiring? -If so, are there plug and play adapters available to make the wiring work? -Does my base stereo even have the watts available to power the M3 system? -Will M3 speakers fit depth wise into a 335 door? If this has been asked and answered I apologize! I’ve been searching for write ups on base stereo to M3 swap and can’t find one. I’m just trying to gather information on this before I get everything disassembled and run into issues. |

The real base stereo system has no tweeters.
Use mdecoder.com or look at the amp in the Trunk to find out what you have. 676 is the hi fi system , 677 or 688 is Logic 7 Idrive or regular radio makes no difference to which stereo system you have . The stereo system is the combination of Amps and Speaker or in the case of the Base system speakers only . Read the description links. A center speaker in the dash indicated Logic 7 and a graphic equalizer menu in the idrive or pro radio also indicates Logic 7 PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING (BMW uses the same speakers and amplifiers accross the 3 ,5 X series in the 2006 to 2013 range and beyond) BMW stereo types http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=352586 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...2&d=1266451970 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...2&d=1260829447 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...1&d=1209780865 http://bmwcoders.com/forum/3-er-8/bm...1-e92-e93-291/ http://technicpnp.com/menuDiagrams/d...e90_92_93.html http://www.musicarnw.com/page-2/ http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...3&d=1169133185 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...1&d=1209780605 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=641323 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...4&d=1278871872 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=343673 https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/e...n-752.1275694/ base system wiring pre/post 3/09 https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...tDpLJPcGkw_ui_ Base System Guide http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...5&d=1493273253 There BMW use the same three basic stereo system.s (amp and speakers ) in a normal or M3 car. The speakers from one system will fit in the others as far as I know . Coupe and convert doors a thinner than sedan and wagon doors but I think they use the same for all.
