What do you guys think of the M8?
I think they're really nice looking; I saw one at the dealership when I was buying my 540i and was immediately drawn to it.
They really stand out in traffic; obviously not for those who prefer not to attract a lot of attention. I was briefly thinking about buying one someday (IIRC they're not outrageously expensive used), but I don't live in a city with a bunch of flashy cars and I'm having second thoughts. |

I think it is one of the best looking cars BMW has produced in recent years. I saw one in person at the Welt prior to launch in Isle of Man Green, stunning car.

The first one I saw was at night a few years ago and I thought it was a Mustang. I bought an M5 — way more practical.

I prefer the M5 over the M8 personally as well.

I haven’t driven an M8, but I can say the 8 drives like a much smaller car than it is, which, of course, is a good thing!!

It's a loooong coupe but a great design (the back end is the best ever of any BMW in my opinion).

Big fan of the 8 series myself, especially the coupe and convertible. I also think it's probably the best looking model they have out at the moment.

I know I'm probably in the minority here, but the proportions of the 8 look off to me. It looks too "squished" along the horizontal axis, about as much as the new G60 is "tall". I think the G30s were a really good balance of all design elements.

It is great looking reminds me of my old Rs7 but it was way too harsh for me and the seats were unforgiving. I ended up in a M550 although I was close to an M5, either is a better choice for me.

while I love how the M8 looks.... at that kind of prices, I'll get a Porsche Panamera. (cheaper than the M8) My BMW dealer also has a sister dealership next door, so I frequently walk next door to check out the Porsches. The Panamera is still relatively nice.
of course, that's when I have to buy either one with my own money. if someone else is paying, then I'll pick the M8. Wait, what am I saying? If someone else is paying for my new car, may I please have a nice new Bentley in dark green? Yes, feel free to flame me for what I just said. Just stating my personal opinion. That's where I ended up when considering the M8. Just a bit outside my price range anyway, but for the money, the Panamera looked very attractive. I've never been fond of Porsche styling, but I like the Panamera.

beautiful, but I would never own a car with a hot V turbo setup on any platform. I like to do my own maintenance, but NOT that often. A lease mobile if I ever could afford one.

You are not alone. I’m not a big fan of the 8er design, but I am a thankful fan of how it drives.

Nice looking Grand Touring coupe. Imo X-drive takes something away from its appeal.

The convertible is really good looking, in fact it is almost as attractive as the Z4.

The M8 was more expensive than I was thinking, and I think I would probably get tired of the ride after a while.
The more I think about it, the more I'm liking the M850i. I'd put a tune on it (of course) and I think I'd be happy. Not that I'm planning to buy one anytime soon; I've only had my 540i for a little over a year and still loving it. Of course, if I sold the 540i now, the price difference wouldn't be huge. Hmm... Nah. That would be imprudent. Oh wait, that's what I said just before buying the 540i... |

Hot Vee is pretty efficient. I like my 2018 M5 V8 with twin turbos in the Vee and my 2021 Cayenne S V6 with the twin turbos in the Vee. Both are very responsive, though obviously the 4.4L spools faster than the 2.9L. The M5 is highly modded and I did some heat mitigation work. The Cayenne is stock except for a JB4 and has no heat mitigation work. I DIY all out of warranty maintenance and repairs.

My favorite BMW and one of my favorite cars. Unlike some of the more recent uglified BMW's, proof BMW can design a beautiful car. Sure wish I could afford one.
I really wanted the G42 to look like a mini-8, but BMW had to put triangles on the front and take the rear tailights from a 1995 Nissan. |
