Do all countries get oil change after 1 year?
I'm in England and after looking through my handbook, I can't find any ref to a free yearly change of oil. My car is over a year old now and will not have the oil change as per OBC till mid 2007!!!
Anyone know if UK gets a free oil change after a year??????? Thanks.

First oil change will be at the cars first service at 2 years or 20k miles approx.
It won't be free!!! Maintenance seems to be included in the purchase price in the US. |

no way I'm waiting 20k miles to do oil change..thats insane
I'm doing my 1st oil change with only 4200 miles, I know a tech who works for a BMW dealer and he's only charging me $60 (oil/filter) included

In US you get 4yr/50k mile maitnence for oil changes, brakes, wipers, etc. BMW also will change your oil once a year if you don't acquire the 15k miles (660 gallons of fuel has to be burned). Personally I wouldn't run BMW 5w30 (euro castrol synthetic blend) 15k miles if I wanted to keep the car for a long time.

I find all the differening information confusing. My CBS counter is showing 9000 miles before the next change, with 13,000 miles on the car. CBS also shows the date as 06/2007 fo the next change. The car was delivered in July, 2005. I hope all is well inside that magnesium/aluminum block! I suspect I won't be able to stand it, and will pay to have the oil changed in July. |

My SA told me to get an oil change when the CBS tells you to........or once a year. In Hong Kong, we get one year of free service. So, I will be bringing in my car to get a free oil change before the year end. :rocks: |

I paid $70 at my local BMW independent shop with all OEM filter & oil. Change the oil at 2K miles.

I called my UK BMW dealers for a quote: $27 / litre for the oil $20 for the filter $94 for 1/2 hour labour Total = $289 for an oil change! Kiss my ass!

My dealer told me BMWs no longer need the oil change after the run-in period and that I should trust the OBC to tell me when the first change is due (probably after 2 years, as I have a low annual mileage).

The car doesn't NEED the oil change, but personally I would find it worthwhile for my own satisfaction. Mechanical sympathy.

I did an oil change at first 2K miles for my E46 & E90 and 7500 miles interval, so far had no problem at all on E46. Since it cost less than $100 for an oil change and your car is worth it.

In my opinion changing the oil is not hard at all. BMW says to change the oil roughly every 15K miles but the computer figures (RPM's, speed, etc..) by the way the car is driven when to change it. I change mine every 10K full synthetic Mobil 1 (BMW oil too expensive), the cost is high due to the labor involved in changing the oil and the resetting of the computer. I keep track of my oil changes on the back of the owner's manual.

Were some threads about this a while ago in the US where dealers say the 1 year in between is no longer covered. I then checked all my manuals and I see no mention of the oil change every year if you haven't clocked enough miles. I think this was dropped in the US. Assuming so, they are getting pretty cheap about this. I wonder what the long term effect on the cars and reputation will be if people don't change oil for 2 years and there are engine failures at early mileage.
If many people lease their BMW's for 3 years (and I think they have a huge lease business), BMW will only be paying for 1 service - oil change in the lease of the vehicle. A second might get done just at then end of the 4 years, 50,000 mile limit. Pretty cheap for all the advertizing BMW is now pushing for free maintenance.

In good old Germany you get nothing without charge at your bmw-dealer, except a handshake .
I was told latest after 60000 kilometers you need an oil-change, respectively if the notice pops up what can happen earlier depending on manner of driving. |

I just got my free 1-year oil change on my 03 325xi. This is the second free 1-year oil change I got with this car. My oil change counter still shows 5k miles and the dealer did not reset my counter so I will be able to bring the car back for another oil change 5k miles later.
This is a BMW dealer in NJ BTW, my first post :rocks: |

My dealer just had a reception for new owners. The service department put on a big spread had door prises etc. and a discussion on service and support. I asked that spacific question and was told that even if you don't reach the magic milage they will change the oil for free after 12 months.
