22 black wheel damage

Hello guys need little help in identifying how these types of scratches on the wheel could happen. I know for sure i did not hit a curb or anything. Can this happen due to rocks/chips on highway ?

Those long scratches perpendicular to the wheel are from removing and putting the wheel back on (dust cover or rotor made contact).

Some of those are rocks, some are negligence.

thanks but mine is a 3-week brand new x5, I took this to a ceramic coating and I don't think this happened during the procedure. so just trying to figure out if these can happen due to highway driving which I have done about 5 times now :/

They do work on the car at the vehicle processing center as well as pre-delivery inspections where I'm pretty sure the wheels get removed at some point.

It could also have been at the factory.

My brand new G82 has gouges on the front brake caliper which could have only happened in the factory. I just don't want to deal with the bullshit and it's not noticeable.

Yeah rocks will definitely damage wheels over time but those scratches aren't from rocks. Rocks will usually leave small impact marks but they won't drag themselves against the wheel. Unless you ran over some wild debris, of course. I've damaged my own wheels on previous cars in the same way. If the car is 3 weeks old, bring this up to the dealer.

That's a shitload of weights on your wheel too.

Thank you so much! However I do not have the Tire and Wheel protection added, so will they do anything under warranty? can this cause rust on wheels as well?

You don't need it.

Go to the dealership and tell them "I was cleaning my car and when I took a closer look there's wheel damage from when someone at the factory, VPC or dealership removed the wheel. I didn't notice it on delivery. I never removed the wheel from the car."

They should cover the replacement or at the very least most dealers will fix it for you as they subcontract wheel repair guys. This type of damage is easy to fix.

Shouldn't make a difference 3 weeks isn't a lot of time and a reasonable timeline.

They make break your balls but you should be able to at the very least get them to repair the wheels. It's not expensive for them anyway.

I already called my local dealer, and he said they could not do anything since it was considered cosmetic and not a mechanical/manufacturing issue. He asked me to check with my selling dealer, lol. I knew they would say something like that, and honestly, I don't have anything to argue with as well.

Just top up with black paint and enjoy the car, man. Life is too short for this. Nice car and noone notices / or gives a rat about it.

True, life is too short, but it's good to know if it's something the dealer could fix or something I need to watch out for in the future.

Thanks, man yeah I got the platinum but not the tire and wheels package. Tbh the more closely I inspect I see some damage near the red caliper bolts and I'm pretty sure this is from the factory. My buying dealer took some pictures but then again, I'm not sure if anything will happen. It hurts but that's life
