2006 330XI Manual in NC (fix or parts car)
I have a 2006 330XI 6 speed manual in Chapel Hill NC that needs to have the Oil Chain guide replaced. Looks to be 3 days labor and $500 in parts.
I don't have the time to tackle this and don't want to junk the car. If someone wants to put in the time and invest in some parts they will have a great car for next to nothing. This was my daily driver and has new Spyder headlights, brand new cooling system (complete replacement), body and paint in great shape, sport package, Navy with tan leather interior, entertainment system rebuilt by guys in texas, suspension is good and engine still smooth with lots of power. Burns about a quart every 4-5000 miles which ain't bad for 330k miles and has been the case for years. I just put $800k worth of tires on it and there is a full size spare and matching rim in the trunk. My current option is to sell it to a U-Pull it place for $475 which make me want to puke. I can't turn over the engine because the springs from the oil chain tensioner guide fell down into the engine and I don't know if they are in the pan or caught in the chain. Someone would need to drop the oil pan, remove the Jesus crank bolt, slide out the oil chain guide and replace it. Labor estimate from shop was $3,000. Anyone interested in beating the U-pull it offer message me. |
