Small Single Turbo Option for OEM-level Performance?

Pretty self explanatory. I don't want much performance gain over the OEM turbos, nor do I want to upgrade other parts to support bigger turbos, more boost, etc.

I'm curious what some decent quality OEM+ level upgrades would be for turbos, and if any small single turbos would offer slightly better performance than stock.

Rob RB rtuebo’s. He can build out your stock turbo and be able to use many of the the ORM parts. I suggest going with the upgraded internals. It’s a little to get a little bit more bang for the buck.

Signal turbos or require lots of modification and drivability will suffer on the low end unless you go with a dual bearing turbo and still experience lag. Most people who go for signal turbo go for big power.

single turbo don't require a ton of mods, and they are not all to do big power, some kit come with 5558 turbo.... require a lot of work tho, but I dont know if it wayy more work than replacing the TT..

Single turbo bring you more reliability for sure : less heat, less component, less vacuum line, no more OEM wastegate issues, no more boost solenoid issues, no more dual intake, less O2 sensors, less low end torque (useful for big power to keep your engine hole free), way better sound.

Way simpler.

I dont think you'll get the same TT performance curve with a single. The TT make a lot of low end torque.

You can tweak this with a small divided turbo, ballbearing, ''gen2'' and a custom tune that allows the best available power at low rpm.

If you want to keep the look OEM, and sound like a 1jz-ish, speedtech bottom mount. cast manifold make this kit the most reliable one on the market.

like this one : https://speedtech.com/collections/bm...gen2-turbo-kit

I dont think this precision 5862 is divided, I would maybe shop a bit more to find one, or email Jeff.

I personally went with psr6262gen2 BB divided, since this turbo is very compact and flow like a 6466-ish, but more low end power. However this turbo is not available bottom mount. Top mount only, looks good but not the best sound.

Look at the RB OEM or RB OEM Billets.

He has a bit of a lead time typically, but it's worth the weight. He upgrades the bearings and wastegates from OE, which will make them far more reliable.
