So today I got the MHD BEF and I am very confused.
I flashed the last tune in the attached image to the car but I have no clue what any of these tunes actually do. ![]() Also how does it work with JB4, am I supposed to pick one of the tunes in the image as per my mods and then go in the JB4 app and pick the map I want or just run one of the tunes in the image with JB4 on map 0? Trust me I looked everywhere online and am still confused I'm either stupid or JB4 and MHD need to be clearer. ![]() |

I'll try to help, I have both JB4 and MHD. The terminology is confusing using both, especially if you are new to them.
JB4 Menus vs Maps vs Flash file (.bin or BEF) JB4 MENU must be set at 4/2 when using a flash file (one of the .bin files in your picture above). Any JB4 MAP can be used with any of the flash files (.bin files). You stated you loaded/flashed the Pump.bin file (aka, BEF). Once flashed, the .bin file can be used with Any or All of the JB4 Maps using Menu setting 0/1,2,3 etc. See below from the JB4 Tech website: When loading the BEF and selecting menu 4/2 in dash, the JB4 maps change to the following: Map0: Stock Bypass Map1: 15psi Map2: 17psi Map3: Progressive WMI target up to 25psi based on meth flow and boost additive Map4: 8psi, factory boost levels/VALET Map5: Autotuning (unchanged) Map6: Custom Map7: 20psi Typically you will flash the .bin file that matches your cars profile (flashed using MHD), set JB4 to Menu 4/2 and select the JB4 Map of your choice using Menu settings 0/X. |

it is very confusing, this is very simple to fix, but seems like BMS don't want to create a clear guide and dummyproof options...
long story short, the DME will run the ''custom'' free MHD map from BMS (flashed with MHD aka BEF), and the JB4 will ''complete'' the setting to targeting your power goals. The MHD .bin file allows a wider adjustment than a JB4 only on stock DME. You got it right so far, here the steps : 1. Flash the proper .bin file with MHD. In the file name you have your DME version (I8A0S), make sure you use the right one, MHD can read it for you. Then the fuel type you want to use : pump or E85. Then the hybrid is for upgraded turbos, hybrid stand for stock hot side turbo and bigger cold side housing and compressor wheels. Then flex is if you have a sensor that reader the ethanol content and it's connected to the JB4. If you are stock, then use the last one indeed. 2. check the JB4 firmware as per you car turbo setup . Here the website but you can do it via the JB4 app. https://dev.jb4connectkit.com/client/firmware/ 3. Put the JB4 menu 4/2. Press down volume down and track down in the same time. Volume up to needle position 4, and track up to needle position 2. Then volume down few time to exit. 4. Play with jb4. here a cheat sheet. BE CAREFUL, this sheet is outdated. In example, the menu 4/2 is transport mode, however in your case it's BEF. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=799033 Start with map1, you can select it on the app, or steering wheel. You can log a 3rd gear pull on the highway, and check with the app if the car health is good. then can try map2. Stay away for now from map 3 6 and 7. The pre-loaded maps are good enough. Some people like map5. Maps When loading the BEF and selecting menu 4/2 in dash, the JB4 maps change to the following Map1: 15psi Map2: 17psi Map3: Progressive WMI target up to 25psi based on meth flow and boost additive Map4: 8psi, factory boost levels/VALET Map5: Autotuning (unchanged) Map6: Custom Map7: 20psi source : https://www.jb4tech.com/forum/model-...end-flash-maps Side note 1, everytime you want to use a OBD reader/coder, put JB4 map 0 . MHD put JB4 at map 0 automatically, but not the other devices. If you dont do that, the dongle simply wont work or fail reading. Side note 2 : you can use MHD options , like burbles, launch control, cold start, etc. Last edited by oVeRdOsE.; 01-03-2025 at 11:15 AM.. |
