Exactly, actually I'm running Cobb which came with the car, and I am also taking a few tuning classes and would like to do my own custom tune with basic tools, BMW Fanatic mentioned this tool in one of his vids and it sounds pertaining, but it is nowhere to be found...

if you dont find it, get TunerPro and edit your own maps. All the sub menu in the base .bin are named after bmw standards, easy to find yourself.

You can do either BEF ou full maps.

Flash it with MHD, pretty cheap dongle.

Also if you starting self-tuning, maybe a JB4 over that will help you a ton. not only for logs, but for monitoring and fail safe features. Easy to find one used for cheap.

BB flasher was never really finished. It's slow and buggy and doesn't fully correct all the checksums so even if you get the flash to complete, the car won't start if you've changed any table relating to torque.

You can flash custom bin files with MHD.

No need for a JB4, they are useless. Also it'll just get in the way of self tuning since it hijacks the boost control.

the guy want to learn, JB4 is very useful.
He can start to use it to adjust his BEF.

Then I agree, the moment he sorted out, and do a full MHD flash tune, JB4 will be useless for a tune perspective, but still relevant to monitoring and fail safe.

how many people fckup their tune on tunerpro because MHD didn't monitor good.

Jb4 save my engine a couple of time with my fueling issues. it just kick you out of the map and go spring load.

JB4 safeties are just marketing bs. There's already engine codes that will trigger for low fuel pressure and afr mismatches. JB4 is a complete mess to install and a mess to configure, you have to enter a load of random steering wheel button presses to set certain undocumented menu options to even get thing running right.

The entire point of self tuning is working out the boost control. Fuel and timing are just 2D maps to set and forget.
