E91 PDC working but sound is very faint
Hi, the PDC beeping sound on my 2006 E91 (M47 engine) stopped workng.
The display shows the distance to objects behind my car but no sound. Closer inspection showed there is still sound but it is very faint. The faint PDC sound appears to come from both back speakers. (While the technical drawing on realoem showed special speakers for my car but probably for a different version) My car has only rear PDC and no button to activate PDC. I do not know what type of navigation and/or radio i have (business or professional. I already tried to turn up PDC volume by turning the radio volume knob while PDC is active. This did not help. The rear speakers work fine when playing the radio. Based on above checks innow suspect my PDC control unit to be faulty. My questions are: - what likely causes the low PDC beeping volume - where is the PDC control unit located - can, if it is the cause of the low PDC sound volume, the control unit be repaired? Thanks |

A Head Unit from a Logic 7 car will have to be coded to output Hi Fi which is a 5 volt differential signal . Does this amp supply all speakers or just some of them ?
There are some articles on setting the software levels through Wert values for pdc in the coding section of the first thing can't cut it . Last edited by ctuna; 01-27-2025 at 07:30 PM.. |

ctuna, thank you for sharing this. I do not have the option to change the pdc volume in my settings menu. (Only bass, treble, fader and balance)
On my model i read it should be possible to change the pdc volume by turning the radio volume while the pdc is active. But that does not work. The pdc signal is audible on the rear speakers but extremely faint. So what else could it be? |

The answer might be toward the end of this thread. If you have aftermarket amps the volume of the pdc will be effected it seems some of the earlier radios didn't have the pdc option . |
