Another 335d with irregular rotation and injector shorted to coil

2010 335d 182k

8/2024- I started having issues with my dampener and replaced with upgraded dampener and clutched alt pulley. Replaced those only to have p1729 and p3163 come up and limp mode. Injector 6 OHM'd out to failure so i decided to replace all injectors, (coded each injector to their cylinders using Maxidas scan tool) delete the car of all emissions and tuned it. Has been running great for about 6 months.

2/2025- Codes p1729 and p3163 have returned stating injector 6 shorted to coil...again. When i removed my intake in 8/24 i noticed decent CBU but had just had it cleaned the year prior. I've been reading a few posts with similar issues but am hesitant to take a deleted car to a dealer and get bent over. Im a competent mechanic and can replace hardware, however i don't have the means of obtaining software for updates.

Where to begin?

I'd start by not throwing the parts canon at the car again. There was no need to swap out 5 good injectors.. I'm sure that wasn't cheap.

First thing I'd do is get a proper scanner, P codes don't tell the whole story.. Something like Protools would be a good investment.

check if the water from windscreen can get to the injectors
ie if you have engine cover installed

It wasn't a parts cannon it was a 200kish service. Did waterpump, drive pulleys, belts valve cover gasket, glow plugs, glow plug module, upper turbo and all gaskets and hoses associated and a full delete. I may be missing other small items i replaced. I have a maxidas tablet scanner that does really well.

Engine cover not installed, #6 had a puddle of water near it when i replaced it but it wasn't the worst injector. I believe #4 was the worst and took the most time to clean. Intake was pretty sludgy. I'm going to remove intake and start with a CBU clean. Will update when im done.

you need to have engine cover if you live in rainy or snowy area
