I just got home and I notice a turtle wax microfiber cloth package on the table. I ask my wife why she bought it and she tells me that because her car has water marks on it (from the rain the past few days) and because some guy on the road threw his soda out of his window and it got on the car, she wanted to wipe it clean. As I started to freak out she told me that she wiped the drivers door and the front quarter-panel down with the microfiber towel while the car was semi-wet. I haven't had a chance to see it in the light because it is dark outside. Anyone know what I am in for in the morning? How scratched up will it be and what can I do about it?

I wouldn't get too worked up about it but I'm like you. Grab the towel and a CD if you have one. Wipe the shiny side of the CD with the towel until you see marring or scratches appear on the CD. Don't worry about the CD - you'll still be able to use it.

If it's a good quality MF towel you won't see any scratches or maybe very very fine scratches after a really good hard effort. Even with a poor quality MF towel she probably didn't do too much (if any) damage.

Also, consider yourself lucky that you have a good women who knows at least to get MF! I saw my neighbor the other day removing bugs from her front grille (TiAg Z3) with Windex and paper towels!

if the car was dirty before she wet it I would assume there will be some light very light marks. Anything there you will be able to get out by hand with a good polish or a PC.

So dont worry!
