Can anyone lend a CD CHANGER for programming

Hi i have been looking at ipod options but with most of the decent ones around they seem to connect through the cd changer wiring harness.

As i do not have a CD Changer in there at the moment i understand you have to buy a cd changer then get it programed at a BMW dealer.

Before i try and buy 1 off flebay i was wondering if anyone in the north london area would be prepared to lend me one to get the reprograming done at BMW.

There was a guy said a bmw dealer was "on the sly" doing the coding without CD changer present. Do a search for 'mObridge cd changer' or 'dension cd changer coding' etc - you should find it. He may even post here in time..

£50 for the privilege and no CD changer required..

Happy hunting..

Dealers won't be able to do this, but there is a Dension-specific programming option on autologic units.

Am i right in saying that my car (single slot business navigation cd player, i-drive) does not have the most module.

And the Dension 500 only works through the most module.

If i was to use a Dension Gateway 100 or 300 With CD Changer Retention would i be able to control my ipod through the i-drive & steering wheel controls.

Meaning you will need to find a BMW independent with an autologic programmer in order to perform the activation without a CD Changer.

There's no such item as a "MOST module", MOST is the fiber optic connection in the radio itself which your 320d has.

So what your saying all stereos use the MOST - ( fiber optic connection ).

I thought that the professional cd players used the (most), while the business cd players used conventional forms of wiring.

So i could purchase the Dension 500 and this unit will work inconjuction with my ipod / iphone running through the bmw stereo / i-drive unit.

I'd give Mark a call down at Cartronics in Surrey. He did my mobridge install on both an E60 then my E92. He has all the programming gear which I think is all you need. Not sure he deals in Dension but he knows his stuff.

If you are really desperate I have a now redundant CD changer in the boot (just filling up the ******* that I could probably loan you. I'm thinking though the above is probably a better route to go, I'm not sure you really need a cd changer present on the MOST bus

Thanks MTRHEAD,

i will give cartronics a call tomorrow and hopefully he can guide me in the right direction.

And if a cd changer is needed for programing i'll let you no, obviously i'll leave some sort of deposit etc.

All e9x applications are now MOST, correct.

I don't think it makes any difference. I think as Tom said, its all running off the MOST bus and the Dension or Mobridge plug into this. In the case of my Mobridge its installed behind the dash so even if your E90 wasnt pre-wired for the CD changer (so the fibre cable perhaps didn't run into the boot) the unit installs behind the dash (to allow for the Ipod cable to be run to the glove box).

So i called CARTRONICs today mark was'nt available but i spoke to another bloke.

As you said they do not deal with DENSION, however he was 99% certain i need to have a cd changer present to perform the programing which i & everyone thought was the case.

Then i had a thought i recently left my job as a car spares salesman and spoke to a few of my old customers,
there is one in ex customer that only works on BMW & MERCS, after a good old chat he said that he should be able to re-program my car as he has all the BMW software.
he is going to get back to me to see if i do need a cd changer or not so hopefully all will be good.

Ok i have almost decided on the DENSION 500 but now my next challange.

What i was planning on doing was playing the audio from my ipod through the DENSION, and watch the music videos through my i-drive screen (i have a aftermarket module which enables me to watch tv/dvd etc)

How can i watch the ipod music videos ........

Same here but can someone confirm that it will work in a E90 without idrive or CD changer (Professional head unit without nav). Also, how much can I expect to pay to have it installed if i bought it online.
