iDrive gas station icons on map?

How can I make the icons appear on the map of my iDrive? ie: gas stations, food?

Under points of interest, choose petrol stations, restaurants, etc... You can also choose parameters, such as the name of the stations, and what kind of food you want, credit card accepted, and such

Note if you have a 2009 BMW, you have to make sure the "traffic map" option is turned OFF for points of interest to work. Strange but seemingly true for everyone...

Yup. The reason is that the more colorful maps with the icons are presumed to interfere with those little color lines that tell you where traffic is heavy.

I wound up setting a preset to toggle back and forth between traffic maps. I tend to drive around with the color maps, but toggle traffic whenever I need it.

Note that, once you turn off traffic, you will be stuck with the most annoying bug currently in Idrive: you'll get little shopping cart icons all over the place when you zoom in past 400 feet.
