Smile Procede v3.2 with upgraded turbos...Results!

ok..ok... i'm not talking about the BMW. But a Porsche Turbo instead. But the results are interesting nonetheless. All numbers on 91oct.

I just retuned a local customers Porsche last night. Stock, the are conservatively rated at 420bhp/415lbft. On the standard calibrated "heartbreaker" Mustang AWD dyno, the customer's bone stock car put down a very typical 320whp/350lbft. A stock 335xi would probably puts down ~220whp, btw.

With just the PROcede tune, it made 377whp and 410lbft of torque. This was the limit of the stock turbos when used with the stock exhaust, intake, etc,. This was also the most power a stock 996tt every put down on this particular dyno which as been used to test flashes from Giac, APR, etc,

Just yesterday, the car came back to us with a set of bolt-on Garret BB GT28 turbos that the customer picked up. They were bolted on and brought back to the same dyno. The car is still running the same intake and exhaust. But with just the turbos, I managed to eek out a very solid 410whp/400lbft of torque. Max boot is the same that we saw with the stock turbos (~1bar). But with nearly 35whp more peak hp. And up to 50whp more power in certain RPM ranges.

What's nice is that there still seems to be another 30-40whp in there. But, for right now, we are limited by the fuel system which is going to be upgraded next. And then an upgraded intake. Should have this car in the 450-470whp range very soon. That is a legitimate 600bhp on 91oct

On the road, the car is a missile. Way different than the stock turbo tune which was peaky in the midrange but fell off quickly as revs rose. With the new turbos, the car builds and builds power until you hit the rev limiter. Surprisingly, boost response is BETTER than the factory turbos. Probably due to the fact that the upgraded turbos have BB center sections. Pretty much a thoroughly enjoyable upgrade. Perfectly vise-less with absolutely no drawback.

Needless to say, things get very interesting and additional simple mods get VERY rewarding when you are dealing with upgraded turbos. I think we have A LOT to look forward to with what is coming down the pipeline for our n54s

And, of course, pics from yesterday:

Believe it or not, all the stock turbo 996tts we've tested all have factory exhaust/intakes and they have all topped out at 370-380whp. The only thing we upgrade are the factory bypass valves which tend to float above 14psi.

Just for reference, that would be approx 460-470whp on an AWD dynojet. On 91oct.

WOW!

Are you using the same REVII hardware? It would be interesting to see how it's wired in..I assume it's a Custom Pin Out Harness?

Actually, this particular Turbo had its PROcede installed over a year back when we only had the Rev.1 hardware. All the new Turbos get the Rev.2 hardware. And yes, custom pin-out harness. Although a PnP harness is in the works.

So just the procede is giving 100+ whp gains? A stock 996tt would dyno 360 or so on a dynojet right?

A stock 996tt usually dyno's around 390-400whp Dynojet. So The PROcede would give another 80whp or so.

Right now, we are offering a complete Porsche Turbo (996) Rev.2 pin-out for $1495. Install takes about 15 min and it uses the same ECU connector design as the BMW (side out subconnectors). The ECU is located just behind the back seats. Very easy to install. No tools involved. And results are better than any of the (far mroe expensive) ECU re-flash options that we've tested. And perfectly invisible/reversible too. And maps for upgraded turbos, fuel system, etc, are all free. None of this nonsense about have to spend another $1000-2000 for map updates when you install new parts. If you are interested, PM me and I can provide more info.

Cheers,
shiv

Vishnu "skunk works" has been tuning Porsches for nearly 2 year now. Nothing has changed. It's just fun when we implement more smarts into the PROcede since the benefits are across the board.
