No dealer sells it in the US due to airbag legalities, however there is a set on ebay if you're willing to shell out that much.

You need to be about 6'11" for those seats too or else you won't be able to see over the dash...

Yeah, that's an idea...just not sure if the support will be the same as the BMW Performance ones. And yes, I heard that BMW developed these seats with Recaro; still...

For the Recaros or the BMW Performance ones...I am not sure how much the Recaros cost, but, for the BMW ones, you are looking at almost $6k.
For $3k; I'd buy the BMW Performance seats without hesitation.

but do the Recaros have side impact airbags like the BMW Performance ones do. and if not how hard is it to dissable the airbag sensors so it doesnt throw a light?

From what I have heard' the Performance Seats from BMW may also throw the airbag light for US specs cars. Keep in mind that; even though BMW Performance is based in the US; these seats are not US cars approved by BMW.
