Aftermarket xenon installation, do-able?
If I find a used with all the options i want, except xenons. Will I be able to ask the dealer to install it aftermarket for me?

You can but it will cost you a lot of money. I think you're better off getting them with the car when you buy it. Good luck

In the US, it is only $730 invoice for the Xenon option. If you do it aftermarket, you probably won't be able to duplicate the auto-levelling feature either. How much money could you possibly save on this, doing it yourself?

u guys...pls read my post...pls pls dont just read the topic/title.
I said i found a USED that does not have xenons, so I was wondering how much to do it "aftermarket" from the dealer. I'm not trying to save money from NOT ordering that option from a new car purchase. |

exactly, if u want it find a car with it, from the dealer it will cost 3-4K with auto-leveling (if they'll even do it for you), if u wanna do it yourself with an error all you gotta do is buy the lights (prolly $800-1500)
my suggestion, find a used with xenons, pay the extra money if u really want it, it will be worth it, if u can live without it then buy the halogens, but dont expect to get a cheap deal on installing xenons anytime soon |

Some guys on here have been able to do the Halogen to xenon conversion. First you need to get a hold of a set of xenons....likely $1000+ depending if new or used from private sale. If you buy from dealer...$1000+ per light. Then you need to worry about the installation cost. Some here have done it themselves/ had friends help....so no real cost. Then you might have a warning signal that some have stated can be fixed with a "chip" and remapping. This chip is about $300 or so. At the dealer...installation about 3 hours labor cost...whatever that is at your dealer.
Plus...these figures are just to get the lights to work...meaning on/off. You will not have the adaptive feature (turn right/left and up/down). If you wanted to get this...then you would have to get an entire retrofit kit. There are not many options around. So if you went this route...likely cost could go up to $4k. Many have done it here for the $1k+ but then again...no adaptive feature and did the install themselves.

Well the reason why i asked this, its because the used one i keep looking at...are the ones with navigation. I only want an e90 with iDrive navigation, unfortunately, i have found a few with navigation (which is already hard to find), dont have xenons (weirdly yes i know right?!) so thats why i asked. But thanks for all the responses. i'll just wait for one with sport, prem, nav, xenons altogether.

Noob question here, but has anyone here just added the Xenon bulbs and ballasts I see all over eBay? They go for $250-$400 for the whole kit, and seem like a decent solution. I ask because I just bought a 325i w/o Xenons. I had them in my old car, and I miss them already!

Eiso, are you really getting a good deal on a used e90? the few sales i have come across, people are asking just a little under new...
froman, you're like me. old car was TL, has xenons, new car doesn't. Thats really hard to go from xenon to halogen, isn't it?? froman: those kits will work, but the problem is that it doesn't have projectors. meaning it will not shine the light properly. it may cause blinding to oncoming traffic. it definitely won't LOOK as good as xenon assembly, and you won't get the angel eyes. Go to umnitza website for good options. |

i wonder if one of those kits that claim to produce "no errors" will thus produce no errors if we install one of those kits in the xenon headlights in a halogen car, understand???? lol i dont even know if its possible to do that
