Strange Quirks on 2009 I-drive
Lately I've seen an intermittent problem with the map display. When I set up to navigate to a destination the icon representing my location is low to the right of the screen, and is usually covered by the square panel on the map that tells my time and mileage to destination. Switching map views does not fix this. Sometimes switching in and out of interactive mode will fix it when the screen redraws.
My other odd problem, and it is increasing in frequency , is the navigator refuses to provide directions to a saved address in my address book. When I select a destination, one I have navigated to before without issue, the screen never displays distance or time of arrival.. just hash marks. After a minute or two the system comes back with unable to navigate. Then I try again in a few minutes and all works fine. Has anyone seen either of these issues? I hope an update from BMW nails these bugs. Mel |

I've seen problem #1, but only when I switch off Traffic Info Map mode (Options > Settings > Traffic Info Map-unchecked). I usually just have my nav in Traffic Info Map mode anyway, as I find the greyscale colors easier to read and less cluttered. I have not seen this problem in that mode.
By the way, do you have Split Screen on? In my example, I have Split Screen on, and when my location icon goes to the lower right of the main screen, that icon is actually in the correct position (centered) if you imagine the Split Screen wasn't there. Not sure if that made sense, but try toggling the Split Screen and the icon should re-center in the main window. Haven't come across problem #2 though. |

I've not had either problem - ever.
However, the there is a SIB for the address problem 84 06 08. There is information on how to get to the service bulletins in the problems and fixes forum.

I don't see those service bulletins. Could you give me a direct link to the one you are talking about? Thanks
I had the failure to get to a destination again. This time it failed to route me to my home address, even though it has done it correctly many times before. If this is indeed a known problem, I hope it will be fixed in an update. |

For another SIB number, just change the number in the URL.
