Going to Paris and London, suggestions?
If you are from London and Paris and have suggestions on places to visit, see, eat at ect.(that are not highly known tourist attractions) would be great.
Thank you in advance for your help. I usually go to Madrid every year but wanted to try something different this year. Havent been to either since I was 15 when I lived in Madrid.

Paris suggestions
A couple of ideas: Go the Musee de la Marine at Trocadero; fantastic collection of naval miniatures, including truly amazing scale models of battleships and naval guns.
When you are at the Arc de Triomphe...walk down Avenue Foch to the east and you will see a parking garage entrance. Go in..you will not see another garage like it in the world. Ferraris, Lambos, Mclarens, you name it...multiple floors. Usually you'll see a couple of fantastic antiques as well. On the 2nd level are the "boxes" where the really amazing car sit. Before you get here, get yourself a DVD copy of - Ronin (and then go to Pont Alexandre III for the shoot out scene--there is a nice bar hidden under the bridge as well), the Day of the Jackal (for the opening assassination scene) and LeLouch's Rendezvous. Also, search YouTube for the in-helmet videos of the Black Prince running the peripherique (beltway) on his bike. Then you'll really enjoy the traffic scene here. If you have a couple of spare hours, rent a car and drive to LeMans. The museum is closed for renovation right now, but you go in and see the track (see photo). The drive from Paris to LeMans is great too...wide open autoroute (not too many photoradar) and the tolls keep traffic thin. Make sure to watch McQueen driving the 917 around there back when cars were cars... |

It's difficult to visit London & not go to the touristy places..
London Eye, Tower Bridge, Big Ben must be on your 'to do' list. Food & drink wise, there's lots of places to choose from & well priced too.. |

I don't know if it's too touristy, but I went to see Moulin Rouge when I was in Paris. It was OK and certainly more entertaining (at least for me) than all the museums.
Food-wise I wasn't too lucky when I was there, but there MUST be plenty of great restaurants, I mean: It's Paris!

I've read the tread and found that nobody recommended Tate Art Gallery in London and Musee d'Orsay in Paris. It depends on the time available and personal taste, but whenever I am lucky to be in those two cities, that is where I like to go. If you want to see any of the two establishments, you will need to plan more than two hours to enjoy at least a cursory look.
