Thumbs up OEM Short Shift Knob Installed

Just picked up the sport shift knob at a local BMW dealership for EUR 82.35 (around $103) and installed it about 2 minutes! Thanks to all who posted previously on this install.

PN: 25 11 0 404 454 (also lists as 25110404454) "SHALTKNOPF"

It seems that non-US models with the sport package will already have this shifter installed - I had to convince the parts guy that I needed it.

1. Grab each corner of the boot and pull it in towards the shifter - there are four clips that need to be "unhooked."
2. Put the shifter into 2nd and apply steady pressure pulling up. Mine came out without a problem on the first try. Don't yank it, just a steady pull.
3. On the new knob, invert the boot so the bottom of the knob is exposed.
4. Slide in the new knob and push it in to click.
5. Pop in the corners of the boot to make the clips hook in.

You're done!

No pics since there are tons out there.

Its a nice change, isn't it? I had this done at the BMW Welt before I even drove the car. Such a simple and effective change. The knob costs about $60 in the US (from leatherZ)

Should be standard with the sports package!

Shifting is definitely a nicer. Agree it should be standard with the sports package. There's good and bad in Euro vs. US spec cars.
