Oath to Self: No cheifin' for a month.

So yeah, I've pretty much found a correlation between the amount I've been smoking and my ability to do school work, or more specifically my motivation (or lack thereof) to do it. It's pretty bad. I'd say I toke like 1-2 times a day, cuz I have a lotta time to do it. It doesn't really affect my motivation to do anything else, like workout or whatever, but it does have a major impact on my discipline to do school work.

Posting this up here to see if I can honor this promise. I'll be true to myself. If I do smoke I'll post here. I want to go a month with zero bud going in my lungs. It'll let me see if that's really the cause of my lack of motivation, or I might just be inately lazy. Who knows.

Hopefully this thread isn't on the main page within the next month.

Good luck with that! Been off weed for a year and my grades are MUCH better too. But then again doing anything but schoolwork is going to impact your grades (for me anyways)

During the week (Monday to Friday at noon) I have no social at all. Seriously, I wake up at 8:30 and work until 3:30 AM on average. Thursday nights are the worst (I average 5:30 AM because all of my work is due on Friday.

Weekends I do nothing but drink and sleep.

OK, rant over. Sorry for the thread jack!

I smoke multiple times a week. But I don't let it interfere with my school work or any of my obligations. . .

Once all my homework's done and I've got some spare time with nothing else to do, I'll toke with some buddies.

Yeah, you should try and do a whole month.

As much as I love to smoke fine herbs on a daily basis, taking 30 days off does wonders!

You can do it!!!!

I can't believe so many people smoke weed.

But, props to trying to give it up (even if it is temporary). Good luck.

When I use to smoke in college I was more productive under the influence. I could pay attention better in class, cleaned the entire apartment, etc. My grades went up once I started going to class high.

Why did you even pick it up in the first place...probably cuz you lack self-control to begin with.

I've never smoked weed but feel there isn't anything more wrong with weed than getting a little buzzed on alcohol. Same rules apply; don't drive, don't bother trying to do anything productive, and avoid both if you've got to use your mind on a regular basis.

I never smoked up until about 8 months ago. It really is useless. I quit for the month of December and it felt great. Once I decide on some personal things I will be quitting for good!

To the OP if smoking was effecting what it is effecting in your case I would say quit forever your gonna smell better produce better work save your money(I like your money but save it) and aside from all other things be on your A game.

I feel like this plenty of times, Unfortunately outside of the classroom I tend to put off school work.

Fuck you. Your contribution to this thread is pointless. You're so annoying on this forum sometimes.

---

To everyone else, thanks for the comments. I just want to explain some things. First off, I'm not addicted. This has actually been extremely easy for me to put off so far. I'm not craving it. I'm not going out of my way to get some. This is not an addictive substance (unless you've somehow built up an addiction...I think it's a mental thing). It's also not a drug. It's a god damn plant. It's natural. It's mild. It's not like LSD, X, meth, etc. In fact, this is proof to myself that bud does not have addictive chemicals. I've been smoking for about 2.5 years. The amount I smoked has increased from once every two weeks, to once a week, to multiple times a week, to multiple times a day. This is largely due to my friends smoking me out a lot. I told them to not offer anything to me for a month. They said it's a good idea, and apparently another of our friends is doing the same thing.

Second, as I stated in the original post, weed has never affected my motivation outside of school work. I've been working out everyday since about five weeks after I moved here (last August). I've been going out everyday, but I accredit that to gainesville being a party town. You can't go anywhere without finding something.

I'm only putting this off for a month to see if there's a correlation between smoking and my school work. No, I'm not quitting indefinitely. It's simply too much of a social thing for me. Yes, I will most likely tone down the amount I do significantly if I see a strong correlation. I'm still waiting to see.

Thanks again for the comments.

Man.... I know exactly how you feel about this whole weed thing. I'm also trying to cut back to no avail. Its tougher than it seems and on top of all this I smoke too many god dam cigarettes (No. 27's). Shit I find myself smoking on an empty stomach alot of the times, I hate it but I do it anyways. I hope you make it all 30 days the relief of knowing you are not addicted to something is effin awesome.
