LOL!

You couldn't tell him to open his hood and not touch his car for 15 min before you showed up?

If he doesn't get any lights, he is fine.

If the engine is cold pop the hood, lock all the doors and wait 30 seconds. If the engine is warm, samething except wait 20 minutes. If engine is warm and you cant wait the 20 minutes do same but disconnect the battery. This is according to the directions fron SSTT install sheet.

The reason your supposed to put it in sleep mode is so the DME doesnt log the TMAP being unplugged. You will do ZERO harm to the engine not waiting for sleep mode. There is reason to believe that many of these codes "fall off" over time. Im sure its fine. If you worried about it go get it scanned for codes

When you plugged the SSTT in and he started his car did he get any system errors? Like the SES light?

My thoughts exactly! But its always good to double check and not assume... Especially when something as valuable as a warranty is on the line.
