Extended Maintenance Plan

Hello,

I recently purchased a 06 325 xi in NY area. I have checked around 2-3 dealerships for the extended maintenance plan and the best quote I have received so far is $1600. The car is under warranty until Jan of next year.

Is that good?

TIA

Thanks bigsakius for your prompt response.

So I guess that is the lowest I can get it for from the NY dealerships ...

Interestingly, when I was shopping for cars, I came across a sales guy in a LI dealership, and he quoted me 13xx something for 3 series, but I never bought anything from that dealership and I forgot to take his information so could not confirm. I guess he was either clueless or just BSing me

Anyhow good to know that the quotes I am getting are pretty good

It will definitely pay for itself at that price, get it.
But dont forget to factor in the cost of the oil change in the middle of BMW's service intervals. They dont cover that.

is the extended maintenance for 2 years after the warranty runs out? Also, which NY dealers did you go to? I live in LI for a good part of the year, and often go to rallye. I'm at 38xxx miles right now, and in the next year or so, my warranty will run out as well.

I got the 1600 quote from Oyster Bay and Pace BMW. Do keep in mind though that they ask for your VIN # and present car mileage before giving you a quote so keep those handy before calling.

Ooh, thanks for the information, i'm right by those places. Vin#, i can understand... but if you're in the regular warranty period, why does the mileage matter? I guess higher mileage means higher premium for the upgrade? Still, doesn't make sense to me since the new extended maintenance program will begin as soon as your original warranty expires.

Either way, thanks for the information!

Oh, btw, have you Rallye BMW (in westbury -- the new, ridiculously huge bmw dealership) for the extended maintenance program? I haven't bought my cars at either of those locations, but have received a letter from rallye about their extended warranty programs.

Rallye is the place where I received the first quote of 13xx back in January but since then I haven't been able to locate the sales guy who gave me that quote nor have received the same quote back from different sales people I have spoken to over there

May be you can give it a shot and may get lucky

That is pretty cheap. I got my extended maintenance plan here in California and its $4300! I think I got ripped off, but hell it seems like I won't be able to get any difference back. I have been looking in the forums and its $2350 supposed to be. Tried asking the dealer (Mckenna) why its so high. Told me because the price went up. I wonder how I can complain about it since it seems like no one in the forum gets the extended maintenance here in California.

I wonder if you can return that plan back given it hasn't kicked in yet and try another dealership.

no offense, but you got milked of your money... why did you even agree to pay $4300? That's just... not smart. Even if you had your brakes changed every year for 2 years, and an oil change every 3000 miles, i don't think it would be close to $4300... If it hasn't kicked in yet, I would go back to the dealer and raise a storm... If they refuse to cooperate, ask them to throw in the extended warranty as well!

No offense taken, I did not realize to do any checks with the extension of maintenance or warranties with bmw. I already spoke to their financial supervisor and has given his word to personally check it himself and will call me on monday. In the meantime, I am trying to read my right to cancel these extensions on my car contract and if they have a deadline before I can cancel them. Just in case their dragging this along so that could kick in and wont have to deal with me anymore.

Or, if he won't give your back your money (which I doubt will happen -- if they want to keep you as a loyal customer), you can ask for "credit" to get all the awesome mods like mtech and all that installed! :thumbsup

Actually thats pretty much what i wanted to do in case he can't give my money back. At the moment I am thinking of getting from them tint for my windows (I am searching the forums about its running price so far), get the car alarm and have that BMW portable gps and the mount in my dash (i dont have in dash navigation in the car) because the mount looks really neat not to mention the wires are hidden and everything. Saw that portable gps on a 328i mount and all on youtube. Unless you have other suggestions besides what you have mentioned so far.

Btw, their supervisor was helpful and followed up with my issue. I will be getting credit back from that overpriced plan. It seems like its going to be fine. You're right, they are willing to work it out!

Does the extended plan differ for different models? Such as a 5 Series or an X5? Anyway to find out what the dealer cost is for any of these plans?

FYI there are 2 services..extended maintenance and extended warranty. It's going to be at least 4k for both from what I've seen.

Extended Warranty

I bought a 2006 325 today with 14k miles. The dealer is offering extended maintenance program for $2100. This will last until April 2012. Is this a fair offer?

FYI, I drive about 4000 miles per year.

Thanks
