A bestid 2p has fallen between the ashtray and the underside of the lid, everything i go round a corner it's rattling about and doing my frickin nut in.

Does anyone know how to get the lid of the ashtray off???? I've taken the ashtray itself out but can't see how to remove the lid

I couldn't tell you exactly, but in the past, I've had a look at the diagrams on http://www.realoem.com/bmw/ and managed to work things out from there.

If the 2p went through the gap you'll be able to get a piece of wire in there, ie copped with or thin coat-nagner wire.

therefore, get some stick tape, wrap it round the end, and then twist it back on istself you so you get a flap of the stick part on the end of the wire.... see if you can get the 2p to stick to the end of the wire.

This has worked on many occasion for me in the pasdt where I can't get to something down a thin gap.... but not sure if itwould work here as I'm guessing you can't really see the 2p.

Good thinkin there mate, will have a go at that tomorrow. Tried everything to get the lid off but don't want to bust it

To remove the ashtray you have to remove the centre console trim. It is quite, easy, all you need to do is to remove the gear knob and gaitor, put your hand in the ap left by the gaitor and simply pull the console trim off.
