Question Best Wash Mitt

What do you guys use? I'm not looking to spend more then say $25.

Is sheepskin better or microfiber?

I use sheepskin most of the time, but if my car is really dirty I use microfiber.

From my countless hours of research on the art of detailing .. I see:
#1 - Sponge (Like Zymol Sponge)
#2 - Sheepskin
#3 - Microfiber

I recently 'upgraded' from Microfiber to Sheepskin from DI and I like it much better.

Grout Sponges hold a lot of water and suds, so it provides a lot of lubrication on the paints surface as you glide it across. We offer the Lake Country Grout Sponge and one of the nice features about it is they cut slits on both sides to help pull contamination away from the surface. The other major benefit of using a sponge wash medium is they typically wash clean much easier in your rinse bucket, especially if you have a Grit Guard insert. Less contamination on your mitt = less imperfections added to your paint.

Yesterday i picked up home depots grout sponge and its great, i actually like it a lot more then a mitt. I also went today and picked up a few of the lowes Grout Sponges. Both are good . Home depots is a little bit bigger so easier to hold in hand, but both hold suds very well, lowes GS has more pores in it so i would like to think its a little safer on the paint , but both are pretty similar in that category. All in all i cant really choose a winner. If u can just pick up like 2 of each then you'll be happy.

Mitts = Scratch

Sponges = Scratchless

Innovative Detailing definately recommends the sponges........

Very fine pores allow for grit and dirt to be expelled from the sponge unlike the mitts that trap these contaminants.

Use a seperate sponge for the lowers and wheel well arch lips because these tend to get far more dirty.

anybody used the lake country grout sponge? is it much better than the sheepskin mitts and less marring?

it just seems to me that the sponge surface is flat and dirt just spreads on the paint....

comments from the pros?

Far from a pro, but a good grout sponge is supposed to lift dirt into the sponge and away from the surface/paint. The benefit is that it's porous.

I'm really liking those Proline grout sponges Lowes sells for a buck each.

Do you guys use the grout sponge with ONR or just with regular washes? I tried using the grout sponge with ONR, and although it holds a lot of water, I found it more difficult to cover a lot of area, unlike what my sheepskin mitt could do. I also found that the grout sponge released too much water at once as I started to move it across my car. I may be doing something wrong.

Are you guys serious, grout sponge to wash your car???
I thought sponges were bad that's why they came out with sheep and microfiber mitts...
