E90 2005 Rear Air Vent Removal Help Needed

Please can you help me save a few quid. Just before Christams my 40" LCD developed a fault. I had to return it to the store or wait a week for the replacement to be delivered. So i put the tv in the back of my car and transported the new one back. To my horror I had damaged the air vents. I say damaged but I'm not sure. Moving the direction of of the one has no affect and the slats just move around freely.

The air vents I am refering to are as follows... if you are sat in the back, on the back of the center armrest, between the passenger and drivers seat. I have the vents at the top, what looks like a blanking trim under that and an ashtray under that one. I've had a go at removing a the blanking trim but it just won't budge. I don't want to use too much force in case I break it.

If anyone could help me with detailed instructions on how to get the air vents out it would be a great help.
