328i Sport Package mixed performance tires
Hi
I have one question. I want to order the sport package however I realized that this package comes equiped with performance tires. Can I opt for all season tires when I order the sport package on the 328i I live in Bufflalo I am not planning to drice the car in the snow but i would prefer the all seasons. I guess I could just order the sport package and then change the ties to non-rft all season the imporve the ride comfort. Any ideas ![]() ![]() |

Well there's a difference between not planning to drive your car in the snow, and not ever driving your car in the snow. Especially in Buffalo, I would suggest changing to winter tires in the winter just in case you ever get caught with your pants down. So I would suggest keeping the summers, getting some rims and tires for the winter, and just be happy with it.

The summer performance tires are 10x better then all season. To put all season on that car is a crying shame. Just get a set of winter tires or do what I do don't drive the car in the winter. I am fortunate to also own a Passat that I drive all year round for work so my BMW does not get used in the winter. I don't find the ride that bad. I have the sport package and when I bought the car and I also had the dealer install 18 inch 162 rims which you definitely can't drive in the winter.

It is an option...but, I agree with those above, do not opt. for all seasons. The summer tires are much betteer and if need be pick up some winter tires/wheels. You can always find a bargin on here.

I'm going to offer a dissenting position (not about the pants thing). I run my sport package equipped E90 with high performance all season tires. I first fitted a set of Yokohama ADVIAN W4s and ran them for 36K miles. I am now using the new Goodyear Eagle GT. I switched to a non-staggered setup (235/40 -18 all around) so I could rotate the tires and get more than the 22K miles you get from the Bridgestone RFTs. There is a bit less grip with the high performance all-seasons as compared to the OEM RFTs but it is not that big of a change and hardly noticeable even under very aggressive street driving. I actually find the car more fun to drive with the small decrease in grip.

My Audi TT came with 19"s and performance tires which I wanted, so I bought a set of nearly new 18" Audi OEM wheels and A/S tires (with 1000 miles on them) for a great price and switch them out myself.

IMO there's only two good choices here.
Option 1) Move. I grew up in Buffalo and moving out of the area was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Option 2) As others have said, keep the summer tires & buy a second set of wheels & tires fore the winter. |

Where I'm located A/S are sufficient, but in Buffalo, zero excuse for not having snows on the car (at least 9 months of the year)!!.
