Lots of members have (including myself). General idea of cost seems to be the $150 range with vinyl/labor. Depends on who you can find ........ TOTALLY changes the look of the car

Gunmetal or anthracite finish would look SICK! Any particular style/brand? A brushed aluminum finsih would look hot too ......

I absolutely have to do this. I'm normally not one for purely cosmetic mods, but this f'in chrome all over the place is driving me crazy.

Just in case anyone is wondering ........

I had initially purchased my "shadowline" vinyl trim online with the thought of doing the install myself. As others have stated within the forum; it takes lots of patience. This is the reason I paid someone else.

Anyway, the product I purchased as authentic was not and was nearly impossible to install for the pro doing the work. I went with "his" vinyl which is nearly identical and have been happy since. Just a FYI for anyone purchasing/doing this in the future.

I had a feeling you were going to VMR 710's .......... psychic Gunmetal is gonna look tight!

Thanks! The M6 reps will be coming off within the next few months as I'm growing tired of them .......... gunmetal DPE s7, s15 or RO7 VARIANT S in graphite will be the replacements.

hey OP, have you had any luck getting your shadowline vinyl?

i bought mine off bmwshadowline.com and installed it myself...was kind of a bitch at first but got the hang of it pretty quickly. it looks great and cost me a fraction of having someone do it.

its been raining a lot in south florida but i got some luck and was able to get a picture:

it doesnt come with instructions but its just kinda common sense. They give you enough vinyl with one roll to make plenty of mistakes and i even have extra vinyl left.

I just divided it into several segments, trying to get the longest continuous piece possible. Patience and attention to detail are the two requirements for this mod. If youre having problems when you start to install, just pm me and ill walk you through it.

I tried that Shadowline vinyl (a single roll, right?) and it didn't want to adhere very well for me.

For whoever it interested ... it might be best to purchase a couple of sheets and then trim the vinyl while it's in place on the trim. I have seen both matte and gloss vinyl available this way. Much easier than trying to manipulate a single piece around the rear curved trim piece .......

just my .02
