Do short shift kits really hurt the trans?

I drove another german car that had a VERY short shift kit and I loved it. Do these kits hurt the trans because I really like the short shift?

It will make it slightly harder to shift because you have less leverage. Shouldn't hurt anything though....

I've noticed that the 1-2 shift is much quicker with mine, and it seems that I can out-shift the syncros on a hard 1-2 shift. I've been driving stick for 15 years, I don't think it's my technique. I've also had 2 other friends experience the same thing. Could just be my car tho.

thought it was just me.... lol

two known problems with MT that are way more evident with an ssk:

-the 1st gear closed gate issue (really weird, you know what I mean if you have it)

-"out shifting" the syncros on the 1-2 shift

I thought it was just me until I searched and saw 20+ threads for both
