Removing hairline scratches on wood trim

The wife and I took our cars in for their first oil change this weekend (1500 mile) and upon getting the cars back we noticed that the dealer washed the inside and outside of the vehicles. Although the jesture was nice, we noticed that the detailers put hairline scratches all over the wood trim by the shifter.

Does anyone know of a way to polish these out? They aren't bad..but I guess its the OCD kicking in since I know they are there and the dealer really wouldn't step up and do anything...grrrr

Thanks in advance

Any NEW updates on this wood scratch removal? Dealer put in a ton of scratches, some deep and some scuffs.

Any help on how to get rid of them? I searched and found this thread.

Thanks

Swissvax makes a special wood trim polish, though I haven't been able to find out much about it. Not sure if it has polishing properties or if it's just a wax.

I would just use any light-cut polish. IIRC, the trim is cleared just like your paint is

I've used my Dodo Juice wax on wood trim. After two coats of the stuff, the trim was shiny and very smooth.

It might have the effect of filling in some minor scratches. It doesn't take much time, so you might as well try it first.

Plexus plastic polish works well for the very minor hairline problems in wood. It has a lot of fillers and will add a very nice gloss to your trim.

Thanks for the tip

Too much polishing with a microfiber towel has left the wood around the shift with hairline scratches. Thanks for the tip about Plexus, I just order some.

is the wood trim in our cars actually real wood that's polished to a shine or is it just some plastic?

It's real. But there's a significant coating on top, which gives it the gloss.

How did it work?

My car came with scratches on the console, but I don't want to bring it back to the dealer - especially if they caused it in the first place. Would rather work on it myself.

I've actually taped off the black trim and vents on my car and used a mild polish on a 3.5" pad with my Porter Cable, followed by Klasse AIO. A bit more time intensive but it got back looking new again. With the amount of clearcoat on the wood trim, it's no different than polishing your paint.

I have found that Meguiars #80 Speed Glaze by hand works well on wood trim. It has a light cut and also some filling capailities.

I never ordered the stuff from detailed image, But I wanted to see if there was something I could get locally that I can use to help with the kazillion scratches in the wood trim from the MF towel and repairs from dealership.

My major spot is the center console by shifter/ashtray.

I posed the question "Should I use polish #4 on the wood trim in the car" to Griots Garage. The response was that machine polish was too abrasive. Rather, plastic polish would be safer on the trim surface. I am going to order some plastic polish and will keep everyone updated on the results.
