HELP!! I need to get a puppy! Anyone know a reputable breeder in So Cal?
Does anyone know of any reputable labrador or weimaraner breeders in So Cal? Or Possibly someone selling them. Please help me out. I am moving to a house from my apartment and want someone to keep my girlfriend and I company.
Thanks |

I was looking for a "Pure Bred" and the local breaders wanted $2000+ for the kind of dog I wanted. I ended up finding a rescue dog. Start checking the local Kennels, Rescues, etc. There are so Many available with all the home foreclosures, there are Foreclosure dogs too.

Agreed. When my family got a dog, we looked at shelters for months before buying our dogs. I've not heard of that breed but just did a quick search and although it looks cool, I'm not sure if you want a breed that might be prone to separation anxiety. Also being a big hunting dog, it's going to require quite a bit of exercise.

Yea, my girlfriend and I have been doing our homework on these dogs. Shes had several labs before and wants another one. I am partial to a weimaraner but yea, the seperation thing worries me. I heard some are really bad and will start getting destructive even during the time you are gone during the work day.
As for the breeder vs. shelter our preference was originally from a shelter (cheaper and helping out a dog that otherwise doesnt have a shot) however, we have been looking for since last January (2008) and still havent found one. All the labs we come across either are pretty old (5+ years) or the younger ones have already developed medical issues. Several of the ones we almost got had signs of advanced hip dysplasia. The reason I am looking at a breeder now is because we really prefer a dog that is OFA certified. I would like to find a dog a shelter because I feel like that is the right thing to do, however the unknown medical issues that could possibly surround the dog a frightening. |

We had a wonderful experience with Pam from All B's Kennel, we got a Beagle. She also has Labs and Goldens. |
