Aftermarket Oil pressure gauge

Something id be interested in really. I dont even have a oil temp gauge unlike 335i owners.

Just when we do trackdays the oil must get very hot and was wondering how thin the oil could get in these circumstances of sustained hard driving and subsequent pulling up and letting the engine idle to cool down, but with low oil pressure could cause engine issues.

Because I plan to do a few trackdays this year, few more than last year but dont want any unnessesary issues which could be avoided by using a thicker oil for example.

But I have No idea what my oil is doing at ANY given time.

Anyone else want to know whats going on under the hood?

You don't really need a guage though, other than something else to look at. If the pressure drops below a safe level (about 1.5 - 2 bar probably) the oil pressure warning light will come on. If it does - you stop.

Not sure how much it all comes do with the WiFi-OBC interface and the Application form the Apple Store, but REV is a really cool application and will probably show you the information you are after (and much more) on an iPod Touch or iPhone.

This is a boost gauge for a 335i, can't find one with the oil temp/pressure though... well one that you'd want to have in your car anyway.

I'm just going to go off and look at the REV bits... shop shop shop !

You need to buy the WiFi-OBD CAN interface which I've just found out is 199 Euros. Then the REV app which is £29.99.

WiFi Interface

Rev Apple App

This is the picture of it connected, but now the unit is all in one (CAN interface and serial-WiFi access point:

The Wifi unit plugs into your diagnosics port and bobs your uncle, full diagnostic readings.

Yeah, iPhone connects to the WiFi interface (acts like a wireless router), then the REV application connects to your car CAN-BUS and reads all fault codes, throttle position, MAF details, etc...

I've just ordered it

Cool, let me know if it works ok?

I know for fact the 0-60 timer and things on the I-Phone are pretty innacurate, wonder how this thing will fair. But no real way of testing it.

On one of my runs, I used my iPhone app DYNOLICIOUS, just to see how accurate it was... because I was fiddling with the iPhone in the armrest, it c0cked up my start (well, that's the excuse I'm sticking too!). To be honest, the results arn't THAT bad !

Santa Pod Timing vs iPhone Dynolicious App (Run 3)

2.92 :: 60ft :: 3.54
7.16 :: 330ft :: 7.46

10.30 :: 1/8 ET :: 10.48
79.94 :: 1/8 MPH :: 82.4

12.86 :: 1000' :: 13.04

15.08 :: 1/4 ET :: 15.15
104.78 :: 1/4 MPH :: 105.8

This is the pretty graph it gives you too:

Biscuits yes all those values in the thread you referred to should work. I have the Dashdyno OBD reader (hardwired) in the ashtray and it reads the same. However I don't believe the faultcodes function will work. I had a few and they won't show up. There is also a few B1S1 ones (Bank 1, Sensor 1) which on a diesel are the back pressure and temp sensors before the DPF which give a value but it never changes. But just for coolant temp, boost press, air temp after IC, automatic 0-60 timing, calculated dyno graphs etc good fun for the money.
I haven't even used half of the functions on it. It matches the BMW interior and lighting fairly well. And I can still close the lid. Even on the last service the dealer had not noticed it was there..
