Paint Question

Hey Guys!
I was at the Vorsteiner Meet, and let me tell you it was amazing! I saw one car there, and it's the car on the right in the picture. The hood was painted with a kind of paint that looked black, but when you got close you could see through the black and see CF below. They said that at night it looks black, but in the light the CF shines really nicely. Someone said it's Matte Clear coat but idk if it is.
If you know what kind of paint this is, or how it's done let me know. I'm interested in getting my current VRS hood painted like that. The soon to be VRS bootlid painted, hopefully find a CF roof for my e90 and get that painted.

it doesn't really make sense according to what OP said??

He probably had a CF hood and then applied a matte clear coat. The matte clear coat will reduce the shine on it and so at night it will look black. But during the day when the sun is up, enough light will go through revealing the CF.

Ok cool, that's what my local body shop said too but he was unsure.

a few light coats of matte black over the cf hood will do the trick

It's a matte clear, nate from CandC is gonna do it for me. i'll post pix when i'm done.

thats my homie, it started as a gloss carbon fiber hood, he got tired of the look and had it all sanded down and had a matte clearcoat applied. he also had his grilles done, looks sick!!!
