Seems much better,
faster, and the colors have changed,

I also Like how it remembers what screen you were in before you shut the car off and goes back to it,

also I remember reading you could now search POI's with the new update,

Is that true?
Am I missing what exactly can be done here or could you go into navigation and search the word "Wal-Mart" and it would bring up the closest Wal-Mart to your location?

Or am I thinking of something else?

Isn't it sweet not having to manually return to where your idrive was last before you left your car? Also that stupid warning disappears after a few secs instead of having to push down on the idrive knob. I just had the software in my 330i updated. For me the biggest problem was the MP3 issue. Now my car plays them with no problem. The only thing I noticed is the music cuts out for a sec or two every now and then. I did hear something about the POIs for the newer software but have not tried to see if it does indeed work.

I have this kind color and search ability for more then two years after my last update in 2007.

Did you upgrade your iDrive before? From what ver. you update to 32?

I have not updated the car until recently. I purchased the car in Oct of 08. I don't recall what version of software it had before. All I know is it was old. It didn't have MP3 cd compatibility. That was the reason I took it in and they ended up giving me the latest software update for my 330i.

yes thats the same screen I now have,
Much nicer colors and the map looks better too, Looks like the maps have better detail and there is now clouds in the sjy on the perspective mode

Anyone know how to search POI's? I don't really use the nav too much as I know where everything is around me but I do intend to travel a bit with the car and that would be an awesome feature If I could search just a name

I just bought used BMW E90 2006 from a private seller and my iDrive could not play MP3. Do I have to do the update? How much is it?

If your 330i cannot play MP3 cd's you may need an update. If your car is still under warranty it will be done free of charge at a dealer. I had the same issue and after the update it plays them fine.
