M3 lip spoiler...what should I do?
I just received my M3 lip spoiler and there are at least 6 minor nicks and scratches on it. I think the average person may not notice but it bothers me that a 3' piece of painted plastic with sticky tape which cost me $190 is not perfect.
Also, I'm not sure if the spoiler is supposed to come this way or not but the curve of the spoiler is a bit too wide. In order to get it look like pictures of other M3 spoilers on E90, I have to squeeze the spoiler in a bit. Is this how you are supposed to install it? By squeezing it and holding it down? |

Yeah, I had to reshape it a little too when I installed it. Leave it out in the sun for awhile, heat will make it easier to get into the right shape. Good luck.

I'm returning it due to the unacceptable condition but I tried mounting it like the pictures. It needs a lot of reshaping. I'm wondering if the sticky tape will hold it long term with all of that torque against it. |

I got mine from Ebay and so far the tape is holding on good. Just make sure to clean the trunk surface first. Mount the spoiler then leave the car in the garage for a day to let the tape cure.

as to the fitment; yes, all spoilers will need a little reshaping to get it to fit perfectly. i've only had it on for about a month.. and it looks great

It's not being anal, it's getting your money's worth. I personally don't believe a 3' piece of plastic with tape should cost $190 but since I can't make one myself and everyone else sells for the same price, it'd better be a perfect piece of plastic.
Anyhow, the vendor gave me an RMA number so I'll get a replacement. FWIW, the most expensive piece of plastic I bought was the bounce for my flash. That thing is about as cheap as a plastic cup but cost me $17. It is worth it though since I use it all of the time. |
