Forced Performance / AMS Performance bolt on N54 turbo project revealed....
![]() ![]() AMS And FP (Forced Performance) have worked together for years on projects and turbo tuning. As of late we both have kept quiet about the possibility of an FP HTA Turbo option for the N54. We both agreed today that it was time to let the cat out of the bag. Over the past few months Robert Young the president of FP has been busy. FP has been busting at the seams making HTA Garret Turbo's and bolt on turbos for a whole line of cars. When I contacted Rob about the possibility of upgrading the stock TD03's on the N54 a couple of months ago he said sure...in fact he was already looking into it. As of last week I shipped a set of stock N54 Turbo's to Rob to be updated and sent back for AMS testing. The lead time for this is still a little gray as Rob needs to make sure he pairs this turbo with just the right combination and work his HTA magic. HTA is a relatively new form of turbo technology Rob developed for his turbos using a Billet aluminum compressor wheel to allow for not only a lighter but better performing compressor wheel. For those that are unsure about FP's track record in the turbo community....its SPOTLESS!! Rob and his staff have worked miracles with turbo's. We here at AMS would not think of sending or working with any other company on a project like this. It doesn't end there though. AMS plans on offering a tuning solution for these bolt on turbo upgrades for plug and play integration on your N54 powered car. As with most of the cars we cater to a full staged modification path with tuning solutions will be available in the near future for the N54 using our already announced parts and some more that we are keeping a little close to the chest. Stay tuned as new developments unfold on this project For more information on FP or AMS please visit the following links www.amsperformance.com www.forcedperformance.com |

We were just saying that with all these N54 advancements going on this is going to be one HELL of a year!!!
We actually plan on taking the shop 335i on some JIC/Cross Coilovers, Work wheels with advan tires, AMS Exhuast, AMS FMIC and these bolt on to the track here and see how she handles the twisties against some of our modded EVO's and STI's. Should make for one HELL of a video!!! Eric |

Dang.
What really would have been cool would be to have kept the cat in the bag until you had dynos. Anyway, this sounds very promising...maybe you can post a new thread when you've got something to show us? |

of course. The main reason for putting this up is that I have been getting a decent number of PM's asking if we are going to do a bolt on upgrade in addition to a big single kit. I figured this was the perfect time to look into it.

no this will be available MUCH sooner then the big single as there is really no R&D involved with these. We will test the output of these first before going any farther with a larger single kit.

Look forward to see what he comes up with. I had a feeling that you guys would tap that resource. I knew that FP was going to be looking into them with BMW sticking the N54 in everything they can. It doesn't appear that there will be room for a larger shaft in that tiny CHRA, but hopefully Robert can come up with a custom turbine solution as well. Very interesting times lie ahead. If anybody can do it, and do it right with ridiculous power gains, it's Robert.

Due to the space and size limitations of the stock turbo housings nothing as big as a red will be made but it also doesn't need to be. Remember we are working on a MUCH larger motor and TWO turbos so we don't need to go BIG to make BIG power! The stock turbo's are honestly the smallest turbos I have seen on a car EVER. the fact that this car makes the power it does on the stock turbo's is NUTS. Even small improvements are going to make HUGE gains. Eric |

I just left the EVO community -- had a 400whp EVO IX SE... I was just about to look into the FP RED when I ended up selling it for the 335i. This is some great news... I can't wait to get my hands on a nice FP upgrade.
TD03? Wow... smaller than an SRT4 turbo... no wonder these bastards spool at 1400rpm lol. I remember the exhaust wheel on my old SRT4 was no bigger than half a golf-ball.
